Saurer Posted October 29, 2015 Posted October 29, 2015 Han stated a few times now that they don't have planes were to go next yet, so I guess everyting is open. They are going to talk about it at the beginning of the next year, so now might be the perfect time to discuss this on the forum. He also said that it depends on the players if tanks will get more or less focus in future, depending on how they are recived.
VBF-12_Stick-95 Posted October 29, 2015 Posted October 29, 2015 Any interest in the early Sino-Japanese War? Plane set depending on era: Axis Fighter Ki-27 or A5M Ki-43 or A6M Bomber Ki-51 Ki-21 or G3M or G4M Allied Fighter I-16 or I-15 or I-153 or F2A P-36 or P-40 Bomber B-10 B-25??? Premium Ki-44 Hurricane or Spitfire?
csThor Posted October 29, 2015 Posted October 29, 2015 I agree with this planeset .... perhaps just la5fn. For future expansions after then la7. Nope, Kursk would be too early for that. The overwhelming majority of La5 at Kursk were still the early versions or the F variant. The FN saw frontline testing there but to introduce it would be pretty much like adding the Fw 190 D-9 to a Normandy setting - kinda "too early".
-NW-ChiefRedCloud Posted October 29, 2015 Posted October 29, 2015 (edited) Well we all have our opinions of what we like or not. And that is as it should be. And the Russian have a right to celebrate their history and hero's. When In first played the Pacific theater in old IL-2 1946 I didn't like it. But I grew on me and some of my most memorable moments were on Pacific maps. But I suspect we'll see at least one more theater in Russia before the Dev's make up their minds of where to go next. Remember that companies like 777/1CCGS are revenue driven. No profit no game. The enthusiasm from the dev's is self evident but unless sales are there the projects don't move.. So let's hope "our"" enthusiasm and money is enough to drive this project forward. Just a post note here. But I think given the possible addition of tanks that perhaps Kursk is a good guess as to the next theater. Chief Edited October 29, 2015 by -NW-ChiefRedCloud
II/JG17_HerrMurf Posted October 29, 2015 Author Posted October 29, 2015 (edited) Alright, time to clean this up a bit. Most of you guys posting are missing the first point which is: 1. What is your aircraft set? (apparently for any future scenario/map) - so get on it and post the planes you'd like to see and maybe why you chose them. 2. What AC do you select for premium within your plane set. I never argued the East was boring because it's not. On the other hand there is no 'more important' community - East or West. The Western market is less tapped than the Eastern market ATM because of the planesets. Plenty of Mustang and Spit drivers are on the sidelines for now. With most of the kinks worked out after a couple of years of development, NOW would be a good time to harness them. The press from a Western scenario in this engine (especially after the last patch) would be overwhelmingly good I think. From a Dev standpoint it makes sense to grow your business. The Russian community is well established now. I will buy Kursk/Kuban even if I prefer moving west for a series or two before completing the War in the East. My only sigular point is there are way more than just one or two aircraft (as demonstrated) to expand into the MTO. Now post your planes! Edited October 29, 2015 by [LBS]HerrMurf
II/JG17_HerrMurf Posted October 29, 2015 Author Posted October 29, 2015 One thing that's hard to do is, when you guys say MTO what exactly do you mean by it? Because there was stuff going on there for a lot of years so anything from a Tomahawk to P-38 and even P-47 and P-51 goes if you count Italy and stuff. My personal pick would be Kuban or Kursk like everybody else. I think a lot of stuff needs to be fleshed out before moving away from the Eastern Front. Interestingly enough both battles so far had Zhukov behind the wheel, perhaps Kursk may be next after all. Leningrad is dreamy too, but the plane set is much too wide to pick one. If to bet I'd say we might see a different change in sales model in one way or another, but not immediately. Perhaps more premium planes or plane packs,I don't know. The fact is it gets harder and harder as most planes were in service for some 2 years on average in a war that lasted 6. Probably only til late '43 or so. Anything else would have too much overlap and make further expansions more or less a "new map/old planes" scenario.
Yogiflight Posted October 29, 2015 Posted October 29, 2015 OK, about aircrafts I would like to see on axis side the Bf 109 G6, FW 190 A8 and as bombers Do 217 or Ju 188 or of course He 177. On russian side I am allways thinking of the Tu 2S, which I think is a a really nice bomber with its two 20mm cannons.
VBF-12_Stele Posted October 29, 2015 Posted October 29, 2015 You may consider eastern front to be boring but you have to remeber theres also a russian comunity that has a different view on the theatres of the "great patriotic war". That said I fear they're (unfortunately) not ready for the move on a completely new theatre yet. If I was to chose I'd definetly say pacific, be it Gaudalcanal, Midway, Iwo Jima, whatever. Some planes I look forward to: US F6F Hellcat F4U Corsair TBF Avenger TBD Devastator SBD Dauntless TBD Helldiver B-25 Mitchell B-17 Flying Fortress Japanese Ki-61 Hien N1K2 Shiden Kai G3M G4M "Betty" Aichi D3 Val B5N1 "Kate" B6N Tenzan D4Y Suisei B7A Ryusei I absolutely love the Pacific Theater, but if memory serves me, I believe the Pacific Fighters expansion we got in the old IL2 was Luthier's pet project. I'm glad it was put it, and the community picked up where they left off in it. But I get the feeling if this would be the last of many expansions we'd see for this series.
216th_Lucas_From_Hell Posted October 29, 2015 Posted October 29, 2015 (edited) OK, in line with Herr Muff's original wishes and purpose for the thread, besides the Kursk/Kuban (which seems to be what everyone in the community talks about, followed closely by MTO ) there are two theatres which can be fleshed out for ultimate greatness. The order does not matter too much. Baltic/Leningrad/Helsinki and early MTO (note: I am no expert so these could be inaccurate, plus I'm not sure of a final list just yet). MTO/Aircraft which pass over to the Baltics are marked with B. Allied Fighters: Hawker Hurricane (B) Curtiss Tomahawk (B) Gloster Gladiator II (B) Bombers: Bristol Blenheim (B) Vickers Wellington Axis Fiat CR.42 Fiat G.50 (B) Macchi MC.200 SM.79 Ju-87B or Bf-110C-4 This should cover all the early North African campaign plus Malta. Then it's all about adding a Leningrad map and a no-premium 8-pack add on (à la expansion pack) to the MTO. Soviet I-153 SB DB-3/Il-4 TB-3 Finnish Curtiss Hawk M.S. 406 Brewster Buffalo Fokker D.XXI As a business move, of course, this makes no sense However it would be cool to get both early MTO and that glorious Leningrad map to go with it. There you can use any Eastern Front plane set from 1939 to 1944, including the existing BoS and BoM ones, and still have realistic scenarios. Edited October 29, 2015 by Lucas_From_Hell
