6./ZG26_McKvack Posted October 28, 2015 Posted October 28, 2015 Made a short video of it in use here: Another awesome change to the game 2
Matt Posted October 28, 2015 Posted October 28, 2015 Sounds a bit better than before, but still too weak, high-pitched and artificial. But then weapon sounds are the biggest weakness for me regarding sound quality in BoS. This is what they sound when on the ground (of course it's just a camera recording this, but you get the idea).
Chuck_Owl Posted October 28, 2015 Posted October 28, 2015 Is it me or these new internal .50 cal sounds really remind me of stock mg sounds from Il-2 1946? 2
Jade_Monkey Posted October 28, 2015 Posted October 28, 2015 It's been a fantastic update but this sound is the only thing I thought was better before. Not a fan of the broken printer sound.
Reflected Posted October 28, 2015 Posted October 28, 2015 It's an improvement over the old one, but still not there. I wish we had something like in Matt's video.
Dennis_Nedry Posted October 28, 2015 Posted October 28, 2015 Is it me or these new internal .50 cal sounds really remind me of stock mg sounds from Il-2 1946? Yes, I agree
gx007 Posted October 29, 2015 Posted October 29, 2015 Is it me or these new internal .50 cal sounds really remind me of stock mg sounds from Il-2 1946? That was my exact first impression too. I hope it's a place holder.
Original_Uwe Posted October 29, 2015 Posted October 29, 2015 That is not what an M2 sounds like. I agree, cut/paste from 46.

That's external and as you said through a mic. Internal to a cockpit will sound WAY different, far more muffled. Sitting behind a M2 tripod sounds even louder so that Youtube video just doesn't sound right either. Of course sitting in an enclosed environment like a cockpit will muffle the sound as well. I know they aren't insulated cockpits, but the skin of the aircraft deflects sound waves, the engine will also wash them out tremendously and the headset for communications will further deaden the sound. Find a youtube video of the engine running full speed, in cockpit, with a recording device next to the pilot's ear inside the headset and lets use that as evidence.
1CGS LukeFF Posted October 29, 2015 1CGS Posted October 29, 2015 I agree, cut/paste from 46. They aren't cut and paste from any other game.
6./ZG26_5tuka Posted October 29, 2015 Posted October 29, 2015 DCS 1.5 got them pretty good now in my opinion, sounds powerfull and fearsome. The current sound in BoS reminds me of old black-white movies with low bit sound effects.
Blooddawn1942 Posted October 29, 2015 Posted October 29, 2015 Is it me or these new internal .50 cal sounds really remind me of stock mg sounds from Il-2 1946?That was my initial thought too.

Then compare it to the sound in BoM when you sit on the ground with engine off and canopy open. And I wasn't writing that this is what it should exactly sound like, but that it should sound closer to that imho. Less artificial and mechanical, more chemical.
