Essah Posted October 28, 2015 Posted October 28, 2015 IL2-46 had it, Rise of Flight has it, DCS has it. How come it's not possible to host a friend or 2 for a coop mission using your own machine to play and host at the same time in BoS? What are the reasons for this to be left out? It seems to me that this is the biggest reason for the small number of players in MP.
VBF-12_Stele Posted October 29, 2015 Posted October 29, 2015 I am hoping for the same thing too. My squad lived on flying MP missions.
WWFawlty Posted October 29, 2015 Posted October 29, 2015 I just purchased this sim, Been playing ROF for the past 4 years and will continue building missions and flying it. I was expecting to see the same type of options with BoS. I was very surprised to see the option of not being able to host as this is the way I check for errors when I construct missions. To say the least I was a little chocked at this but did figure a way of doing it by building the mission as a single player then changing over to MP/dogfight when it's complete. Having the option to host would make things a lot easier and hope it gets added in the future.

It can be done, just have to start dserver and connect to master server throught your own machine and then start the game. You'll see your mission on the MP server list and just connect to it.

VBF-12_Stele Posted October 30, 2015 Posted October 30, 2015 I've tried setting up a multiplayer coop but its not as straightforward as it could be. When the mission is loaded and running via DServer, not everyone is able to load up at the same time. One work around is to delay everything in the mission editor for about 5 minutes to give everyone the chance to load the game and then the mission as they join, and then some more time to review the mission briefing along with customizing your loadout. You could do this in old IL2 and then the host hits "Fly" just as everything is set. I think you can do this in ROF too. So, there is a bit more than just having a custom made MP mission running via DServer. It can be done, but I think it is a little clunky and not multiplayer single mission friendly. Another big difference here is that we don't have a lobby for people to view multiplayer missions popping up the same way you would see it in Hyperlobby. In Hyperlobby you could see at a glance who was going to host a mission, the mission description, and who was about to fly in it.
