Dark aim sights when engine is smoking on the bf109 e4

I don't think I've noticed that on the other planes before. When the bf109e4 receives a bullet in the engine and gets an oil leak, it's not just the front glass they gets darkened. The glass of the aiming sights also gets darker, very quickly. After a while, it's no longer transparent. See the attached screenshot.
