No_85_Gramps Posted October 27, 2015 Posted October 27, 2015 (edited) Started the new campaign, flew my Yak to the new airfield, got a couple of 109s on the way, landed, and got the mission success screen. After going back in the new airfield is unlocked, but just has the generic campaign flight types. Anyone got any info on how the new campaign is structured? If I go back to the original base if just offers the same "move to another base" mission. Maybe from the new airfield you just have to fly more missions to eventually unlock the other fields? Finkeren Posted October 27, 2015 Posted October 27, 2015 I think that's the idea yeah. There are supposed to be 6 scripted missions: Two for each chapter I think.
ram0506 Posted October 27, 2015 Posted October 27, 2015 Yes, first mission of each chapter of the new campaign is a scripted mission. You have to successfully complete this mission to get unlocked the next airfield, where you can fly further missions from (choosing the first airfield of the scripted mission brings you only the scripted mission again). From now on the campaign system is the same as before with the "old" campaign. The more missions you complete, the more airfields get unlocked, until you complete a chapter. Then the next chapter starts again with a scripted mission ...
taffy2jeffmorgan Posted October 28, 2015 Posted October 28, 2015 New Campaign mode still has over sensitive a/c movement, still bouncing around like a cork in a pond. To fly, let alone combat is physically exhausting ! and that's the only reason why I hardly fly in campaign. This effect is not applied in any other mode, so why campaign ? is this effect purely there to test our flying/combat skills ?

Sorry, but this makes no sense, we're flying the exact same sim in campaign mode as we do in any other mode. I don't want to sound dismissive, but I really think there has to be another explanation. Could it be, that the campaign generated a mission for you with strong winds and high turbulence (you should be able to see that in the briefing)? This will make your plane behave much like you describe, realistically so. In most MP missions winds and turbulence are set to low values, and in quick mission they're both set to zero by default. Could that be why it feels different? I think you should try setting up a quick mission, where you set wind speed and turbulence to their maximum values and see if that produces a result similar to what you experienced in the campaign. If that's the case, then it simply means, that you aren't used to fly in difficult weather.
taffy2jeffmorgan Posted October 28, 2015 Posted October 28, 2015 I do not think it has anything to do with weather conditions, do you remember that when campaign was first introduced there was no end of posts complaining about the over sensitivity of all aircraft when flown in campaign mode. and its still there today. I fly all the aircraft available in single player [ quick missions/ missions ] and they are as smooth as silk in all aspects of flight, so why should campaign be any different ? and this makes no sense to me either !!
unreasonable Posted October 28, 2015 Posted October 28, 2015 I had not observed this myself - the only other possibility I can think of is that if the campaign is using more resources (lots of objects, AI etc,) and if your PC does not have sufficient extra capacity, perhaps the FM responses become slightly lagged and hence feel more jerky, even though the code is unchanged? This is somewhat of a wild guess, but also based on my observation over years of gaming about how a newer, faster PC often cured what I had thought were control problems.
Bando Posted October 28, 2015 Posted October 28, 2015 I'm sorry, but I do not know what you mean. To me all the aircraft fly the same, be it in campaign mode or QM. I hope this helps you in trying to figure out if it's maybe something on your rig or so....
LLv24_Zami Posted October 28, 2015 Posted October 28, 2015 No difference in plane behaviour in campaign compared to other missions that I have noticed.

I have gone again to fly both campaign and quick mission and there is no comparison, in campaign the Bf 109 bounces around that much I can hardly get a round to hit the target, in any other mode [quick mission or a random mission I have no problem downing the enemy. Can anyone remember others posting this problem of instability, or am i imagining this !!! Cheers. Edited October 28, 2015 by taffy2jeffmorgan
Bando Posted October 28, 2015 Posted October 28, 2015 Nothing wrong with your setup. I'm sorry I cannot help you out. To me the flying of different planes in QM-Campaign or missions is the same.

Alkyan Posted October 28, 2015 Posted October 28, 2015 Maybe lower the graphics and try again? I had this, my frame rate was slightly worst in campaign but it was almost impossible to perceive. However it was enough to disturb me and make precise aim harder.
Feathered_IV Posted October 28, 2015 Posted October 28, 2015 I managed to try the new campaign last night, but didn't get a static mission as far as I can tell. Just a cutscene then the usual Groundhog Day selection.
