danjama Posted October 27, 2015 Posted October 27, 2015 Hi all, my joystick is the T1600m. I'm a casual flyer these days so it's fine for me. The main issue i have with tracking aircraft is that the hat switch is only using up/down/left/right. No diagonal movements, and no smooth transitions. It's quite awkward. I used to have newview for il2/cod and this worked very well for giving smooth head movements in the cockpit. Is there a way to replicate this sort of movement in BoS? Thank you
Sokol1 Posted October 28, 2015 Posted October 28, 2015 Select other camera mode with F-9, the Pan mode give a result similar to use NewView in il-2'46/CloD. 1
Daboops Posted May 28, 2019 Posted May 28, 2019 Alright, I understand this thread is very old, but i'm quite literally having the exact same issue with the same joystick and everything. I can use the hat to move head left/right and up/down, but when pushed in a diagonal direction, it seems to register no input at all. so this leads to a rather unpleasant experience. i've become quite good with the hatswitch in war thunder sim, but this is really stopping me from enjoying what would otherwise be a far superior simulator. So did you solve this issue? i'd love to know! 1

I have the 16000m and I had to use the snap positions and set up my controls in the game menu for the correct diagonal views to work. So bet sure you are not using the target program as it has issues with iL-2 and working correctly. Here are my settings and where you can adjust your head snaps as the game calls them. If you want to use the hat as more of a free look like a mouse then select the default view as pan camera. No idea if this is what you want/need but that is all I can offer. 1
Sokol1 Posted May 28, 2019 Posted May 28, 2019 Daboops The game have four method of "Pilot head control" with joystick POV HAT, select with F9 key - besides "fee look" with mouse or TrackIR or similar headtrack device. F9 - Change pilot head control method: centered snap - fixed snap - additive snap - pan view Snap allow move camera in diagonals. Pan view (here) don't allow move camera with HAT diagonals - at least with default assignment, but only in "steeps", example: move left, then up, rinse and repeat.
Daboops Posted May 28, 2019 Posted May 28, 2019 Thanks Geronimo, those control settings now allow me diagonal movement even in pan camera mode! seriously, thanks! that was driving me crazy. Now, excuse me as i'm off to go train for flying the 109, see you in the skies! o7 1
