6./ZG26_Gielow Posted November 4, 2013 Posted November 4, 2013 We used to have a very cool event called bomber night on Spit vs 109 server. You were supposed to chose allies or axis. One side should attack a target and everyone should fly bombers (a limited number of scort fighters were available). The other side should take off and try to intercept enemy bombers. It was a huge battle !!! It would be super cool if 1C guys could host these events. Like rpg mmo's events One video from those bomber night missions: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ekPeGzI3TX0 What do you think guys ??? 1
71st_AH_Hooves Posted November 5, 2013 Posted November 5, 2013 Dude that looks like alot of fun! Im sure someones server will be down to host that kind of action!
6./ZG26_Gielow Posted November 5, 2013 Author Posted November 5, 2013 (edited) The correct link to the video: http://vimeo.com/12876923 That were really epic missions Edited November 5, 2013 by JG62Gielow
thx1138 Posted November 6, 2013 Posted November 6, 2013 Bomber night was great Yes, I think most of them I was in were epic. Only time I didn't have fun is a battle of Midway one where I got a late start and flew the briefed flight plan and never saw anyone. Turns out all our Zero's went over to the American fleet and slaughtered the bombers before they got anywhere. But it was amazing to attack a tight formation of He 111's in my P 40 along with other P 40's and some Hurri's on another night.
II./JG27_Rich Posted November 7, 2013 Posted November 7, 2013 I knew I had a Bomber Night video http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kzEkruT8Ngk
Blakhart Posted November 7, 2013 Posted November 7, 2013 (edited) Spit vs 109 long time ago was a good server but nowadays its more like kindergarden for players who pay a lot of attention to statistics. Its because of un realistic, nonsense rules ( you can shot down aircraft usually ONLY over target sector ) and un polite, arrogant admins. I will tell you a story... Our team was completly banned after some private war of one of those admins. We flew there over Afrcia sands and hunt on high altitude with FW190s. No one was in center of the map so we flew more to the north. About 10 km near the enemy airfield my friend had a good kill on altitude about 1500 - 2500. Result ???Whining and complains on a chat, because that killed frustrated guy was one of the admins. He made a mistake, got shot down and he pointed all his anger on us. No respect for such pitful players... So if you ask if we could participate in Spit vs 109 events I will say definitly no... There is still a lot more better server with higher level of gameplay with normal rules. Example:Aces over Europe. Even half-arcade Skies of Valor nowadays have far better gameplay than Spitvs109... Plus you can a lot more fun in good russian il2 servers. VinniPuh, Mist of War. So for all readers, before you join this server read rules caerfully... If you need realisitc game better go somewhere else because you can also be banned and offended when you will chase on kill some admins "by mistake". p.s. GunRunner and Peeper needs to apologize our whole squad on public forum about their un polite and childish behave and charges about cheating. After that we can consider participation in events... 6S.Manu Posted November 7, 2013 Posted November 7, 2013 ... I love that server and its admins! It's full of historical missions, with good planesets, and is plenty of mature and skilled pilots. It's sad many good servers are died instead of this one. People kept join in that since it was the most populated. That's its only quality.
Blakhart Posted November 7, 2013 Posted November 7, 2013 Its not crazy, its un realistic, un historical. I dont know any other respected server with such rule. Fields in Spit vs 109 have very strong AAA and some fields are sometimes 20 km to nearest base. I had there a lot of situations when some guys were making a B&Z from hi altitude and when they finally loosed combat they were just diving to the base... Imagine 10 min hard combat against enemy with Energy advantage and when you finally won, the guy is running to the base and you "cant shoot" him down only because of those rules... I could accept admins decision if we would kill that guy on low altitude after take off. But he had at least 1500m and he was engaging us... Anyway I`m far away from that now... Day by day number of il2 players in HyperLobby is lower... Sooner or later HyperLobby with Spit vs 109 will be a small refuge for those who cant fly in Cliffs of Dover or Battle of Stalingrad.

It's also crazy. The first days of modding, one teammate of mine (the one who used to work with team deidalos) try to enter in that server with a modded plane, to test if it was really possible for hacker to join the game: of course he only tried to join in and he disconnected after a pair of seconds IIRC. As we were really concerned by this possibility, we decided to inform those admins to be really alert about the players since "cheating" was a Fact. That crazy guy began to make threats of banning us for his server and warning all admins of the other servers, as we were "cheaters". An Idiot (also for disconnecting with you at his 6, or restarting the mission after being de-winged). Edited November 7, 2013 by 6S.Manu
OBT-Psycho Posted November 7, 2013 Posted November 7, 2013 Is RAFGunrunner still there? I remember my days on this server with my squad. He was feared as if he were Sauron, or something like that
Blakhart Posted November 7, 2013 Posted November 7, 2013 Hmm... Interesting Manu, plz tell us, who was that proffesional witch hunter ??? I think we should know... I had few situations on Spit vs 109 with cheaters. That server is completly un-protected, but lets be honest, old il2 have a lot of bugs, exploitz... crt=2 is a weak barrier One of the best was when we flew with my friend, =LG=Flogger. We both had Typhoon`s and engaged alone 109 on step climbing, he had less than 250km/h, we had about 300-350. Flog went to the left to prepare better position for counter attack if I would failed and I followed 109. He outclimbed me easily, made excellent hammerhead, 5 seconds before that I knew I cant reach him, so I disengaged and started to dive, that guy started to follow. I know data of 109 F4 and Typh Ib ( Typh is faster ), so I knew I have to keep runing till he bleed off his speed, plus Flo was on his tail. Situation was clear. I was chilled then Flo told me that he is closing in ;//// !!!0_o ? I even didnt look back when he started to shoot... After that he went up, of course Flo couldnt get him on Superman-Rocket climbing... After all I use HyperLobby pager to ask that guy about his extra features... He replied:F&ck OFF!! I m doing what I want... That guy had F/JG300 tag, I dont remember his nickname unfourtunatelly...
6S.Manu Posted November 7, 2013 Posted November 7, 2013 (edited) Interesting Manu, plz tell us, who was that proffesional witch hunter ??? I think we should know... IIRC, his nick is in the post above yours. I know, it's not good to mention him, but if you act like an a$$ all the time, it's natural that you make yourself a reputation. I agree about cheating... there were cheaters also during the years before the code was hacked. There is no way to limit them except "flying" with a close group of players (aka squads). Blakhart Posted November 7, 2013 Posted November 7, 2013 Ahhh IIRC was a nick... ok,ok, didnt understood, thx! Hmm did you read interesting topic about telemetry data ??? AS made quite good post about it. http://forum.il2sturmovik.com/topic/1695-telemetry-data-tracks/
6S.Manu Posted November 7, 2013 Posted November 7, 2013 (edited) Ahhh IIRC was a nick... ok,ok, didnt understood, thx! Wait! IIRC means "If I remember correctly". It's been years ago... It's the guy named by OBT-Psychopoak. Edited November 7, 2013 by 6S.Manu
OBT-Psycho Posted November 7, 2013 Posted November 7, 2013 I think the reputation of "the guy whom shall not be named" is pretty established in any pilot's mind that had an argument with him...and there are plenty...I mean plenty! there was a point where we would first check if he was on the server, then decide which other server we would join. People changes though, and the job of server admin could be sometimes really arsh. anyway overzealousness made this cool server turn into crap but it was for good as we flew much more intersquad missions

SYN_Speck Posted November 9, 2013 Posted November 9, 2013 Anyhow... I know some people had disputes with admin at SpitsVs109s (including some of my friends). Regardless, "Bomber Night" was great fun and I have nothing but respect for the guys who worked hard, week in and week out for years to make it happen. It was a regular event to look forward to, and like "Vintage Mission Sundays" in ROF it was a way for have some more mission-oriented sorties than usual for a dogfight server, without the pre-planning and logistics that go into an online campaign. Independents could join in and have as much fun as squads, and you could join in the middle if you wanted. And of course it gave the bomber pilots among us the chance to join with some pretty impressive & large formations, while the fighter pilots could enjoy escorting or searching for & intercepting them. It was a welcome change from the usual dogfight server "fly-straight-to-the-furball-kill-die-repeat" cycle. It was early in the days of my online flight-simming, but I still remember the thrill of spotting a big bomber formation in the distance, with escorts weaving above, incoming. 1
