Sokol1 Posted October 22, 2015 Posted October 22, 2015 A colleague want install a DServer in his spare machine, for this the STANDART version is OK? Or for launch missions with La-5, Fw-190... the Dserver need the run the PREMIUM version?
JimTM Posted October 22, 2015 Posted October 22, 2015 (edited) Neither. The DServer is available as a separate free account, but you need to register to get it. Following is an extract from the (work-in-progress) editor manual. Hopefully it is error-free. If anyone spots a problem, please let me know. Create a DServer Account Before you can obtain and run a DServer, you must create a DServer account. The account allows you to download and use a free, limited version of BoS that includes the DServer software. This procedure shows you how to obtain the DServer account from 1C Game Studios customer service. Do the following: Log in to your BoS account (the one you purchased, not another DServer account) at http://il2sturmovik.com/. Visit the "Contacting Customer Support" page at https://il2sturmovik.com/support/request/. Choose subject "Other (please specify)". Under "Enter a subject", type "Dserver please" Under "Describe the problem", type the following: "Please, provide me with a special account that I would like to use to host a dedicated server. I know that such account would not let me play the game and that it doesn’t have planes on it, and I acknowledge that such account is the property of 1C Game Studios." Click "Send" to submit the request. When you receive a reply to your request, note the account login ID and password for use in the install and configure procedure. Obtain and Install the DServer Note: These instructions are for a Windows-based DServer. Do the following: Log in to your BoS DServer account at http://il2sturmovik.com/ and click the Profile link on the top right of the page. Click the Download link on the right side. The DServer version of BoS is downloaded. Install the DServer version of BoS on the PC that will run the DServer. If you want to install the DServer on the same computer that you fly BoS on, create a separate directory for the DServer install. For example, C:\Program Files (x86)\1C Game Studios\DServerBoS (Optional) Create a desktop shortcut for DServer.exe, which is in the DServer BoS directory under \bin\game. Jupp Posted October 22, 2015 Posted October 22, 2015 (edited) ~S~ Jim, Unless things have changed without my knowledge, which is entirely possible I will concede, as that could have happened ; 1). The first thing to be done* is to create a new and separate email account for the express purpose of registration and use of the Dserver Account. Being separate programs (Game/Dserver), both access the Master Server, requiring 2 different accounts to do so. Especially in doing from same computer. *You could use an alternative email account that you might have already existing, however, I created an entirely new and appropriately named one for simplicity. Respectfully, !S -Jupp- Edited October 22, 2015 by Jupp
JimTM Posted October 22, 2015 Posted October 22, 2015 Hi Jupp, Thanks for the feedback. Step 7 needs a rework. I'll include an email comment there. Here's the new Step 7: 7. When you receive a reply to your request, do the following: a) Create your DServer account at il2sturmovik.com. You must use a different email address for the DServer account than for your paid BoS account. b) In the Profile page for your DServer account, paste the activation key into the "Key Activation" field and press the Activate button. Cheers!
JimTM Posted October 23, 2015 Posted October 23, 2015 (edited) Hmmm, I'm wondering if the procedures above are necessary if you start the DServer in your paid version of BoS. Presumably, you would not be able to fly then, just run the server. Also, I assume that the server would accommodate premium planes, even if the BoS on the server system was standard. Looks like I'm back to Sokol1's question in the OP. :-) Jim Edited October 23, 2015 by JimTM
=LG/F=Kathon Posted October 23, 2015 Posted October 23, 2015 I'm not sure but I think that DServer is the same for standard and premium version. It only runs mission files. Limitations about premium planes are on the client side.
