groundmagnet69 Posted December 15, 2012 Posted December 15, 2012 I bought IL2 on the release date way back when. I bought every add on as well. I love the game. very well done and a great value. FMB is the main appeal to me - it is perfect! Bought CLOD and sadly my dream was smashed - after so much effort - I could not even play it- uninstalled. I never played ROF - not my era. But lets forget that - Keep it simple - one map - realistic plane set - FMB - great eye candy - weather - historically accurate - flight models - markings - smoldering city - fire smoke please dont make me cry again ---I want this new dream !
Skoshi_Tiger Posted December 15, 2012 Posted December 15, 2012 The only tears I have experienced with CoD have been tears of Joy! I spent the morning with a flight of four Blenhiems destroying the Blue fleet and with the bombs remaining performed a Tree top raid on a enemy supply base. Target taken out, but I took some flack in the engine and was forced down in occupied france. The Flight went on to objective 3. My virtual pilot is now in the hands of the French Resistance planning his return via Portugal! Seriously now, have you tried it with the latest patch? We all have our hopes and Dreams (and I dare say fears) for the next installment of the IL2 series. But that is still a year and half away at best. So we all have to keep outselves occupied till then. Cheers! 1
Bearcat Posted December 15, 2012 Posted December 15, 2012 I am just now over the past few months even able to fly CoD because initially it was so taxing on my rig that it would not run.. I hope that someone does something with the CoD engine.. the more the merrier.. but I really hope that this BoS becomes what I have been hoping for since IL2.. because so far I have not found it.. CoD was supposed to be well into it's second theater by now if not the third. but it took so long just to get what we got. So I just don't miss it at all..

Like Skoshi Tiger as I'm sure if he remembers some of my posts in the 1c COD "Banana" forum I am one of those rare people who never had any real problems with Cliffs Of Dover from the get go. About the only problem I did have was figuring out how to use the mission builder witch is much more advanced that IL-2 1946's. One other thing that isn't the games fault but just my preference. Going back and forth over the channel day after day for more than a year now gets pretty boring especially for someone who would much rather be in the Desert in an F4 or Russia where you have a myriad of targets to choose from. migmadmarine Posted December 15, 2012 Posted December 15, 2012 Ground magnet, and all the rest, I do strongly recommend you download and try ROF, just to get a feel for what it has to offer up to this point, even if WWI isn't to your taste.
II./JG27_Rich Posted December 15, 2012 Posted December 15, 2012 (edited) I have it and I think it's great. It's unfortunately just not my arena. I'm not going to say a bad thing about it though now that I've played around with the graphics editer. Once you get up in the air you can really see what a difference you can make if you play around with things. Edited December 15, 2012 by Richie
71st_AH_Hooves Posted December 15, 2012 Posted December 15, 2012 I share your new dream. What il2 offered over the years were like christmas presents to children! So much excitement when a new theatre came out. And we all got to experience at least a small portion of what it might have been like. CloD carried us into a new era of dreaming, the promise all our favorite theatres realized in amazing detail and accuracy. Sadly this dream became a long and drawn out nghtmare. Full of false hope and crushed expectations. But what it did finally deliver is some amazing sights and gameplay. Albeit in a broken half capable engine. Our dream of il2 now has new life, 1c have a new chance to show us what they can do in a proven (though maybe slightly less capable engine and even that is wrong to say), engine. Lets not forget that those that worked on clod are working on BoS. They have the ideas and passion to make our dream finally come true! My real dream is to land on a carrier in a Hellcat wearing my Oculus Rift headset , watching the pitching deck of the Enterprise calling me home in the early hours of the evening after pouring all my energy fighting the japs over the Pacific! THAT IS A DREAM WE MAY NOW BE ALLOWED TO DREAM AGAIN!

I don't think you'll be disappointed. 777 Studio's did a great job with RoF
