Snap. Gattaca is one of the more stylish movies going, plus it has some really important and interesting ideas. The same director, Andrew Niccol (a fellow NZer), has really interesting ideas, even if they don't always come off on screen. You know each movie will be something different. I really liked his "Truman Show". "SimOne" was interesting but not so great.

Great movies! I have both of them. Not really a Psycho or The Birds fan but Hitchcock is great. Dial M For Murder, Strangers On A Train, The Rope. Forgot about Howard Hawks's Bringing Up Baby and The Philadelphia Story

There is only one Matrix movie. Remember that.

Really keen to see North by Northwest. It keeps popping up in film articles and lists.

Since having kids, my movie watching has dropped a ton, but I'll try to list some I've enjoyed for various reasons. I'm not a particularly fussy filmgoer. If it entertains me and sucks me in, it doesn't need to be technically amazing, or have any great depth.

I am superficial to the bone.

Captain America - I was surprised how much I liked this movie. A really good adaptation of a comic book. The writing and acting made him a very sympathetic hero. Plus the action scenes were just a lot of fun - flying wings!

Sky Captain and the World of Tomorrow - P40, Angelina Jolie in a tight-fitting uniform with a British accent on a retro flying aircraft carrier. Maximum awesomeness has been achieved.

Pulp Fiction - the soundtrack and backdrop for my university days. Great dialogue, cool soundtrack.

Invincible, Remember the Titans - dunno why but American football movies always really appeal to me. I even liked 'Any given Sunday'. The highly tactical but stop-start nature of the game drives me nuts when I watch it but lends itself well to movie making, I think.

About a boy

High fidelity

Fever pitch (both US and UK adaptations) - I like Nick Hornsby, and his books play well as movies. I'm really hoping 'Juliet Naked' gets made. It'd work really well. Also, and don't tell anyone I said this, I like Hugh Grant and Drew Barrymore in these kinds of movies.

Phew - big revelation! But its out there now.

The Incredibles - fantastic fun, and my six year old is angry that she can't be a superhero. Told me today that she can actually make small force fields, but she just want to right now.

Shrek 1, even 2. I was amazed how good the first one was after years of avoiding it. Excellent dialogue, character development, mind blowing CG at the time, and so much fun.

Batman with Jack Nicholson

Batman with Heath Ledger

Spiderman 1&2 (Toby Maguire series)

There's lots more. I'll try and think of some that'll give me a bit more 'cred', after blowing

Mine with the revelation that I like romantic comedies.

OH YES SIR! Summer Glau is a babe!

Yeah, quite powerful. And I heard that scene was improvised by the actor himself, not sure if it's true though :)

It's hard to see the TV show, Castle, and not think of Malcolm. Oh what should have been. Sigh.

The boss's girlfriend said "Hmmmm I don't get it" after watching Blade Runner. I don't have it in my favorites but I agree it's an awesome movie and has a lot of messages in it.

I have to add one to my list. It is a guilty pleasure. Not great SciFi but a pretty cool little film with one of the greatest lines ever uttered by the movie hero. That movie is John Carpenter's They Live starring professional wrestler Rowdy Roddy Piper (sans kilt obviously) as character George Nada -
