Too bad, hope it stays in Germany.

I hope some rich German buys it and has her restored to her natural grace and let her sing over the skies of Deutschland once more!

To see this flying would be amazing, the likeliness of this to happen is very very low though.. The irony is that the best way to preserve an aircraft is to keep it in airworthy conditions, but there are a lot of risks related to this and the insurance costs would be astronomical..

great news, sorry it's not flight-able.

I'm a little weary about the application of the '16'. I don't remember seeing any photos of Luftwaffe aircraft with USAAF style stenciled numerals. Can anyone verify this?

Interesting that even there they use the swastika substitute.

Should've been the reward for the first person to pre-order.

Not always, both the Fw-190A-5 and D-13 at the Flying Heritage Collect have full Hakenkreuz markings. I don't know if they are illegal here in the US though. I guess if it is something historical it's allowed or over looked.

No, they are not illegal in the US - it would be a 1st Amendment issue.  That one is in Germany, and I was thinking of the other conversation about swastikas and I thought that it was usable for historical reasonsin a historical context but apparently not.

Embarrassingly there is even a political party in the US that uses the swastika as their symbol - they were in the news last week in fact for reasons I should probably not go into but you could Google if you wanted to; "Jeff Hall".

What did he lack to fly again?

or rather, how much money he needs to fly again?
