=81FG=HellKitten Posted October 15, 2015 Posted October 15, 2015 Few days ago, i encountered a P-40 during in multiplay.I damaged it quite a bit and that poor P-40 lost the right wing-tip.I was convinced that i damaged it enough, because that P-40 was obviously not combat effective any more. So i left it.However, it wasnt accepted as a score for me. It seems that P-40 safely returned to the base even though the wingtip was gone. Today, I was flying a Bf109G2 and lost a wing-tip during in an engagement.I was still able to fly and I could RTB, but the system said I'm shot down already. It happened to one of the pilots in my online flying squadron too. He was flying a Bf109F4 few days ago and lost a wing-tip.He returned home safely, but the system still said he was shot down already a long ago. So, I started to wonder. What is the rule of getting the shot-down score in this game? Or is it just that P-40 is not completely made? Do I have to giv enough damage to opponents to get shot-down score?Or do i just hav to make them completely combat ineffective?
1PL-Husar-1Esk Posted October 15, 2015 Posted October 15, 2015 I was hit by Yak in 109, got engine, coolant and structural damage. Plane started to shaking so i turned it off and had emergency landing - game did not give score to my opponent.

1PL-Husar-1Esk Posted October 15, 2015 Posted October 15, 2015 (edited) I heard some nasty sound when pressed gear down button. I bounced two times high but landed without breaking prop or wing. Edited October 15, 2015 by tomcatqw
Y-29.Silky Posted October 15, 2015 Posted October 15, 2015 (edited) You're doing something wrong. I've shot up aircraft so many times where they've made it back and I got the kill (but their pilot didn't die so and they didn't get credit for a death which is awesome), I've been shot to hell and made it back, and they would get credit for the kill, I've been barely hit by AAA, landed and "AAA shot me down". I guarantee you that if you shot someones wingtip off and they made it back, you would get credit for the kill, no offense, but the way the kill system is now, I don't believe you for a second, it's rather the complete opposite. The P-40, it only takes one solid burst to kill anyone. But I fly the He-111 a lot and and chewed to the core and the only time the "Yak's" will break off, is when they see the kill message because they've done enough damage to me and I high tailed it back home and can feel amazing because I touched a heavily damaged bird down safely. All in all, you have to make him combat ineffective. Don't do the War Thunder where you feel you have to make him a prospect for a Michael Bay movie, save your ammo and move on. 1PL-Husar-1Esk Posted October 15, 2015 Posted October 15, 2015 I dont know if you guys know that in ROF you can deny kill (shot down) by stoping the damaged but not broken engine and land without damaging the prop. I had situation when i shootup Dr.I engine and he soar landed then overturned on his nose (so delicate that he did not break proppeler and i was not credited for shooting him down
SCG_Space_Ghost Posted October 15, 2015 Posted October 15, 2015 You're doing something wrong. -snip- So typical... 2
=LG/F=Kathon Posted October 15, 2015 Posted October 15, 2015 Hits and shut down are written in log files. Every hit makes some demage. If sum of demage is greater than 1 (100%) then shutdown event occurs.
BeastyBaiter Posted October 15, 2015 Posted October 15, 2015 There are three triggers for being "shot down." They are engine failure, pilot bail out and pilot death, nothing else counts as far as I know.
Jade_Monkey Posted October 15, 2015 Posted October 15, 2015 There is already a huge thread regarding the topic: http://forum.il2sturmovik.com/topic/18306-shot-down-principle/
-TBC-AeroAce Posted October 16, 2015 Posted October 16, 2015 People need to just get a couple of hits on a AC then reposition !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! When i tell myself to not finish an ac I get many kills and feel gluten!!!!!

Well the way I see it if a pilot lands hsi crippled plane back at his base.. even of it is mangled.. He didn't get shot down.. He landed.
Alkyan Posted October 16, 2015 Posted October 16, 2015 Might be interesting to note that the wing of liberty stat website define shutdown differently than the game. Main difference I noticed is when doing a emergency landing at base : server count me as shot down while website did not. Website also keep track of pilot virtual life and as a captured status.
