IIN8II Posted October 14, 2015 Posted October 14, 2015 I enjoyed the gameplay of the Beta much more than I thought I would. It is also one of the most visually stunning games I have every played. Lighting, sound, textures, models are all superb. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=U9qvZcW4jmg&feature=gp-n-y&google_comment_id=z12atrghuxqlv3bb404cjbrzczzasvuzrxk0k 1

6./ZG26_5tuka Posted October 14, 2015 Posted October 14, 2015 Is it TrackIr compatible? I preordered SW Battlefront just to fly an X-Wing.I'm pretty sure it's not (same as in Battlefield). The game is kept stupidly simple so I would not have high hopes for trackir or joystick support (from what I know fighters are flown with keyboard and mouse only). That movie looks nice and definetly catches what this game does best: ambience. Although I have not played it myself yet it looks stunning and really screams Star Wars with every little detail. What I truly dislike though is the gameplay design. I don't think it's too "childish" but it's certainly adressed for the very basic playerbase. Things like for example lack of decent controll mechanics, vehicle cockpits (I was really exited since it's a common practise for Bf titles after all) and the whole "Star Card" system, which is just implemented in an as absurd and unauthentic way as possible, really turn me off. Emperials running around with rebel weapons, hetpacks and personal shield generator spam and random spawnpoints that lead to unpreventable spawnkilling really are the last nail in the coffin in terms of gameplay.
steppenwolf Posted October 14, 2015 Posted October 14, 2015 The effects and terrain are some of the best so far. I just wish they'd put that kind of realism into the character movement and physics, still way too jumpy and twitchy. They'll get there eventually though. Nice vid.
Ace_Pilto Posted October 14, 2015 Posted October 14, 2015 It's pretty good but it suffers from "Mile wide, inch deep" syndrome like every other EA games FPS. Anyway, it's nice to get in on an FPS before the aimbot crew get a hold of it.
steppenwolf Posted October 18, 2015 Posted October 18, 2015 I thought this video was informative: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JPCku0IFVkQ
6./ZG26_Emil Posted October 18, 2015 Posted October 18, 2015 Great trailer from IIN8II As far as the game goes it looks like COD with starwars, yet another copy paste version of the same old thing. I prefer reviewers that are a bit more honest (referring to the above video) and from what I've read the game doesn't sound very good.
Uufflakke Posted October 18, 2015 Posted October 18, 2015 That snow looks like... real snow. Up-close and at far distance. The lighting, terrain, objects, effects, it all looks very realistic. One thing I noticed in the 2nd video: objects popping up when approaching. Something I can not get used to. I remember the days I played the game on an Atari. A lot of things have changed since the eigthies.
HippyDruid Posted October 18, 2015 Posted October 18, 2015 It's great looking game, even my wife was impressed. It has very shallow gameplay, but I expected that! It's Star Wars afterall, they would be stupid if they didn't appeal to the masses. ...and I have agree whole heartedly with Jimmy. It was nice to play something the aimbotters hadn't skanked up for a change. $200 says that the cheats will be all over it in under a week after release.
johncage Posted October 19, 2015 Posted October 19, 2015 Any great games you can recommend John? steel armor blaze of war for authentic armor combat experience, realistic and complex depiction of armor thickness/angling, penetration, deflection, detailed internal hitboxes, simple but deep gameplay and command mechanics, advanced tactical ai, above average combat ai, relatively good pathfinding. only problem is it's a little dated now. red orchestra 2 and its spin offs(rising sun, and newly announced vietnam). in terms of gameplay, it's very similar to battlefield and its clones, except much more realistic, authentic, and very few compromises on historical data unless absolutely necessary(with some exceptions). weapons behaved and operated correctly. also, all the moronic stuff from the typical battlefield game is missing. no infinity parachute, shooting guys out of planes, immersion breaking nonsense like that. one downside i mentioned previously as one of the exceptions is that weapon accuracy is too high. i can make clean shots easily on guys 500 meters away if i just put my iron sight slightly above his head. nah, wind would have pushed my round off course. so trajectory is simplified, which is a shame. the game's too easy that way, intentional i guess. but i wished it was more hardcore. right now the only other thing i'm watching is kingdom come deliverance and ground branch, both of which are in early access. both indie games that despite showing promise and a concrete vision focused on realistic, authenticity, detail, logical, intuitive gameplay, unfortunately seem to be slowing down as of late. i guess the money is all going into cookie cutter explosions and ham fisted narrative driven popcorn games and social gaming multiplayer experience where you can party with people over skype and ts.
