KG200_Volker Posted October 11, 2015 Posted October 11, 2015 I searched the forum and didn't found something for this, It's just a heads up. Nvidia introduced the DSR function to their drivers for cards of 7xx series and up. What it does is that it upscales the resolution up to 4x and then scales it down to 1080p or whatever your native res your monitor has. I used it with a 1080 monitor at 4x and the outcome is outstanding for me. No need for AA or AF at all, everything is crisp and clear and finally the antena wires are perfectly seen, also the weird pixelation around planes with clouds on backround is gone. Drawback , taxiing for gtx card. TG-55Panthercules Posted October 11, 2015 Posted October 11, 2015 This was kicked around quite a bit a while back - see thread below for some discussion: http://forum.il2sturmovik.com/topic/16950-any-1080-guys-using-nvidia-dsr/?hl=nvidia&do=findComment&comment=267716 Personally, I messed around with it a lot but eventually concluded it wasn't accomplishing anything for me. But it's certainly worth trying out, just in case, as YMMV.
SharpeXB Posted October 11, 2015 Posted October 11, 2015 DSR is just super sampling rebranded to use the magic words "4K". But it's only going to give a 1080p image somewhat better antialiasing at an incredible expense of having to drive 4x as many pixels. Really it's not worth it. What you're getting, even set at 4.0x is just the equivalent of 4X AA. For the performance cost of running DSR you could set ultra level graphics on any game. This statement is completely false. In fact it's rather fraudulent. "giving you 4K, 3840x2160-quality graphics on any screen" http://www.geforce.com/hardware/technology/dsr/technology This marketing language is the equivalent of a Blu-ray Disc player making the claim: "giving you Full HD, 1080p quality picture on any TV" Which no maker of any disc player would claim since it would be a total lie. If you could see what a real 4K display looks like you'd agree.
VR-DriftaholiC Posted October 17, 2015 Posted October 17, 2015 It's really just expensive (in terms of horsepower) anti aliasing. However it may help with this games pitiful spotting.
