Reflected Posted October 6, 2015 Posted October 6, 2015 Don't you guys think that airplane lights are quite overdone? Nav lights have such a glow that the plane becomes a shining comet that's visible from a very long distance. When seen from a few hundreds of meters, the plane is almost not visible, only the big red-green ball of light, all this in daylight. In reality they should be barely visible in the daylight, just like tracers: when there is a fighting in the distance, and the planes are only small dots, the shining tracers give them away, it's like a Jedi fight with light sabers. I find this part of the game highly unrealistic, and I was wondering if it could be fixed? Or is it an engine limitation? I remember we have the same in RoF (tracer visibility) but it came with a patch, it wasn't always like that. 8
SR-F_Winger Posted October 6, 2015 Posted October 6, 2015 absolutely. Identification of a plane with navlights at distance impossible.
6./ZG26_Emil Posted October 6, 2015 Posted October 6, 2015 Probably a limitation the same way tracers are so visible from far distances as well.
SR-F_Winger Posted October 6, 2015 Posted October 6, 2015 (edited) Probably a limitation the same way tracers are so visible from far distances as well. I dont think its limitation. They are just too big at distance compared to the size of the actual airplane. Edited October 6, 2015 by Winger
wellenbrecher Posted October 6, 2015 Posted October 6, 2015 I dont think its limitation. They are just too big at distance compared to the size of the actual airplane. Which would be the perfect example for an engine limitation I.e. light sources not scaling properly.
SR-F_Winger Posted October 6, 2015 Posted October 6, 2015 id consider that an engine bug. Not a limitation. And if i remember right the light have been much smaller already and have been changed in one of the patches.
Yogiflight Posted October 6, 2015 Posted October 6, 2015 By the way, I really wonder that they are starting and landing with nav. lights, even on bright day, in combat? Really? I absolutely don't think so. This is something for peacetimes. 1

SCG_Space_Ghost Posted October 6, 2015 Posted October 6, 2015 Nav. lights are absolutely necessary when you have 20+ aircraft taking off and landing at 1 airfield without an ATC. Nav lights don't ensure anybody follows traffic...
6./ZG26_Gielow Posted October 6, 2015 Posted October 6, 2015 Those lights are far from real for sure. About airfield ATC control, I was approaching with my shot and leaking Heinkel as usual. Landing lights, nav and flares. Two 109 were on holding point and they entered rwy blocking me. I had no doubt. Turned on autopilot and jumped to nose gun and fired on those two. One lost direction and exploded outside rwy. It was epic and educative
