Ace_Pilto Posted October 12, 2015 Posted October 12, 2015 I think the problem starts with being unfamiliar with the airfields. Sometimes it's hard to see the runway on the ground. There's no signs telling you where to go or a map with airfield layout. One day I took a left, when I should of gone right and spent forever taxiing. I eventually said screw this and did a cross country takeoff. I feel your pain, that happens to me a lot but I'm talking about guys that HAVE found the runway and just pull onto it without looking. Then good old me who has finally found the runway and is up to 120kph has to do all kinds of crazy maneuvers to get around/over/under them. 1
Dakpilot Posted October 12, 2015 Posted October 12, 2015 (edited) "There's no signs telling you where to go or a map with airfield layout" http://forum.il2sturmovik.com/topic/15105-bos-airfields-reference/ Above are nice maps for every airfield in BoS, there are not too many in frequent use in MP so not too hard to memorise layout before flight (or better still print out the airfields you use most) Thanks to HR_zal for this great reference tool Cheers Dakpilot Edited October 12, 2015 by Dakpilot
Feathered_IV Posted October 12, 2015 Posted October 12, 2015 I usually find looking left or right works well. Doing this almost always reveals a taxiway that leads to the runway.
Mysticpuma Posted October 13, 2015 Posted October 13, 2015 I've given up on multiplayer because of that. I spoke with Eric Carter who flew Hurricanes in Murmansk with the Russians. He said it was quite incredible to see an airfield scramble. The RAF chaps all prepared for an organised take-off only to see Russian pilots jumping into their aircraft and all heading off in different directions across the airfield at full throttle. He was amazed there weren't any collisions. So the multiplayer behaviour sounds historically accurate. Well done to those players for reading up on history 1

Livai Posted October 13, 2015 Posted October 13, 2015 Planes take off and land where bomb holes are --> nothing happends. I never seen a plane drop into a bomb hole. Sounds really historicall accurate. !!!Where snow was cleaned up you can take off and land across the airfield!!!
=TIA=TBear Posted October 13, 2015 Posted October 13, 2015 Pardon me if im little offtopic.. Is there a server just for amateur simmer?....I mean not populated by "professionals" that live online 16 hours per day, or maybe cheaters, discodancers...and so on. Something populated with fair nice people that not only speak russian, to enjoy a couple of hours of good virtuaflight after a hard work day. Would be nice if is also "yakfree".
