Jaws2002 Posted November 3, 2015 Posted November 3, 2015 (edited) I don't have time to do this, but I did the Emblem of First Pursuit squadron. If anyone wants to skin this plane go ahead. I attached the emblem below, if you need it. Few weeks ago I went to a cool airshow in Fort Worth Texas. There was a lot of cook stuff, from Mustangs, to F-22s, to Mig-17, the Blue Angels and even a crazy hybrid biplane, powered by a prop and a jet. There was also a cool little P40 that flew that day. I'd love to do this one, but I'm so busy and I know it will sit there, half done for half a year. 9./JG27golani79, since you have lots of details done for the flying tigers, do you think this one is worth your time? (click on the pictures to get the full resolution) Few things I noticed about this plane. The small rivets are almost invisible on the plane, so the layers that represent small rivets would have to be toned down considerably. Quite bright camouflage colors. Interesting variant of the Shark mouth. http://s25.postimg.org/m9dy0ietb/20150912_145728.jpg post a picture Edited November 3, 2015 by Jaws2002
Jaws2002 Posted November 3, 2015 Posted November 3, 2015 I started it but after looking at the camo and other things that I need to do to get it done, I know it will just sit there for ever. This is how far I got, before quitting.
Pierre64 Posted November 5, 2015 Posted November 5, 2015 (edited) Excellent. Deserves some green arrows Edited November 5, 2015 by Pierre64

Zargos Posted November 7, 2015 Posted November 7, 2015 (edited) Hello guys, Here's my last P40 : a plane of the 23rf FG, flown by Lt. Dallas A. Clinger : Available here : http://www.unbound-frogs.org/zsf/skins-bos/zsf/zsf-skin-bos-012.rar Edited November 7, 2015 by UF_Zargos 3
Yankee_One Posted November 7, 2015 Posted November 7, 2015 (edited) @ Zargos Cool it was a skin request from me. It is post #31. If you dont mind, i have found some pix. Two of them are original. From my knowledge it was on both sides of the ac. Thank you and salute! http://www.warbirdregistry.org/p40registry/p40-al152.html Edited November 7, 2015 by LcSummers
Zargos Posted November 7, 2015 Posted November 7, 2015 You're right LcSummers, but to a certain point only. In fact Clinger had two planes yhe n°38 et the n°48. On the n°38 the little cowboy is on the left side of the rudder znd seemed to be uncolored as well as the japanese flag as shown here under (credit Pierre64) : As far as I remember the pictures you've posted rerards the n°48 1
Yankee_One Posted November 7, 2015 Posted November 7, 2015 Hi Zargos, learned something new. Didnt know that. Thanks for the info

Yankee_One Posted November 8, 2015 Posted November 8, 2015 Nice skins! My favorite is #62 like on some P-39.
Cybermat47 Posted November 13, 2015 Posted November 13, 2015 Just wondering, would anyone be interested in turning this into a skin? I know that it's an N, not an E, but I still think it would be a great skin to have
beepee Posted November 13, 2015 Posted November 13, 2015 Here are some more ideas for RAAF P-40Es if anyone is keen: The following are not E models either, but still worth a look: These are from the Osprey Aircam series of books. 1
Dave Posted November 14, 2015 Posted November 14, 2015 (edited) Here are some more ideas for RAAF P-40Es if anyone is keen: ... These are from the Osprey Aircam series of books. I would have done one of the FNQ, WA, NT, New Guinea squadrons but none of them operated the P40-E. With the exception of the North African campaign all Australian-flown P40s were later models. N's IIRC. The issue with making P40-N skins for the P40-E is that the N was actually a longer airframe. The vertical stabiliser was also slightly different IIRC. This makes aligning the camo patterns and other markings in their correct locations a little difficult. Some may not notice or care but I painstakingly checked and rechecked period photographs for the Caldwell skin. It is actually missing two details which is why i was not going to share it yet. I'm waiting for an N so I can do Keith Truscott's aircraft. Edited November 14, 2015 by Dave
Dave Posted November 14, 2015 Posted November 14, 2015 And I still haven't fixed the alpha channel on the roundels and node art.
SOLIDKREATE Posted November 14, 2015 Posted November 14, 2015 If you make some Aussie P-40's all you need to do is paint the M.C.202 like 'Tony' (Ki-61 Hein)
Cybermat47 Posted November 15, 2015 Posted November 15, 2015 If you make some Aussie P-40's all you need to do is paint the M.C.202 like 'Tony' (Ki-61 Hein) I like the way you think
Dave Posted November 15, 2015 Posted November 15, 2015 If you make some Aussie P-40's all you need to do is paint the M.C.202 like 'Tony' (Ki-61 Hein) Abbott? 2
VBF-12_Stick-95 Posted November 20, 2015 Posted November 20, 2015 I don't know if this has been addressed, if so, please disregard. My P-40 psd file is dated 9/29. Creating a dds straight from this file results in holes in the exhaust pipes when looking from the cockpit. The default skins has no such holes. I was able to adjust the Alpha to correct it.
Karigan Posted December 23, 2015 Posted December 23, 2015 (edited) Hi everyone ! Today, I will post for the first time one of my P40's skin. It's the aircraft of the second Lt. Philip Adair who flew in India in 1944. It can be interessant to flight Lulubelle against Ki-61 Tony aka Mc.202 (I will maybe post a skin later). So, this is the final result: Download link : https://www.dropbox.com/sh/dl1de2svag54lv3/AACi4eBB-EsaDE5R9-Bh9s88a?dl=0 And I wish you a merry Christmas ! Edited December 23, 2015 by CHICTABAC1
Reflected Posted January 3, 2016 Posted January 3, 2016 (edited) P-40E of 1st Lt James O. Beckwith, CO of the 72nd FS/ 15th FG, Hawaii, January 1942 DOWNLOAD: http://www.mediafire.com/download/7rdl5prauoxirup/P40E1_15thFG_Beckwith.dds Edited January 3, 2016 by Reflected 4
Cybermat47 Posted January 4, 2016 Posted January 4, 2016 I saw this RAAF P-40 E on Boxing Day: https://www.awm.gov.au/collection/REL/20242/?image=1 It's worth noting that on the left wing walkway, somebody rather helpfully wrote 'Use the bloody step!'. Pictures of that soon. 2
