Great, Rothary. I've been waiting for a Soviet sharkmouth.

 

Does anyone know if any P-40s were ever painted with a sharkmouth in VVS service historically? Sharkmouths and the like were not unheard of in the VVS, but I don't recall ever seeing it on a Soviet P-40.

Thanks for the feedback - haven´t touched the alpha though.

Gonna take a look at it.

 

Hm .. alpha seems to be fine - no idea atm where the holes are coming from.

Need to check it out in detail and will post updates when done.

Finland got few damaged P-40 as a war booty and KH-51 was repaired airworthy. It was used for evaluation flights.

Great job on that desert skin. May I have a few remarks? The camo colors are spot on, but I think the underside should be revised. It was sky blue, not grey like on the olive drab planes. The markings might be a little too small, and IMO the red spinner should be a little more desaturated in order not to stand out so much. The shark mouth application is flawless though

I know you're propably joking but:

 

If you've ever flown above North African coast (or used Google Earth to look at that same area), you'd know that it's actually a very varied landscape full of color. The uniform sand dunes are further south and in reality there was little action over the Sahara proper, which is pretty obvious since there's nothing there. You can't really lead an army through there.

 

Also: Don't you think a plane set of P-40, Macchi and Bf 109s would be kinda limiting and get boring rather fast. Leave it to DCS players to slog it out with a 3 fighters plane set over an ahistorical map.

yes...the lower side colour is a mistake...before saving the definitive save it popped out the wrong layer.

of course i was joking .... but if u want to have just the "flavour" of desert war, maybe this could be an idea....I remember that at the times of IL2 Sturmovick first editions there was a mod like this

 

For all skinner here a question:

 

I use Corel Graphics to paint, I save my files in PSD format, then I use Photoshop to convert them in DDS format with his plugin....but....the problem i that today my trial time for PS expires...so...anybody knows if theres some DDS converter plugin for Core Photo Paint?

The fact that 80% of the community made skins here are American might say a lot about the opportunity that lay in releasing planes of the Western Allies, just saying

Few weeks ago I went to a cool airshow in Fort Worth Texas. There was a lot of cook stuff, from Mustangs, to F-22s, to Mig-17, the Blue Angels and even a crazy hybrid biplane, powered by a prop and a jet.

 

There was also a cool little P40 that flew that day. I'd love to do this one, but I'm so busy and I know it will sit there, half done for half a year.

 

9./JG27golani79, since you have lots of details done for the flying tigers, do you think this one is worth your time?

Few things I noticed about this plane. The small rivets are almost invisible on the plane, so the layers that represent small rivets would have to be toned down considerably. Quite bright camouflage colors. Interesting variant of the Shark mouth.

Personally eastern front has no any fascination..I would prefer some RAF/USAAF vs German/Italy/Japan. But here in Italy we say "o mangiare questa minestra o saltare dalla finestra" that means "thats the soup we have..eat ot or jump trough window
