When RoF first came out it had some really nice promo videos of some of the planes and also, later, some nice familiarization tutorials by Requiem.

Given that the WWII aircraft, especially the Russian aircraft might be slightly more complex to fly, it might be nice if they produced, or if Requiem is about, get him to produce a Familiarization promo video and a quick tutorial on each aircraft (maybe even for the Alpha launch). They would be good to get people familiar with different aircraft and also as refreshers when swapping from one aircraft, or side, to another.

It can be quite daunting when you start out if you want to fly as authentically as possible (CEM) but don't have the inclination to fly only one dedicated mount or side and don't have the time to really get into the guts of studying the manual and numbers for each aircraft, when a quick survival guide tutorial might be better suited ?

N.B,  I thought there were some better puff videos, put out by 777, on the earlier aircraft such as the SE5a but I couldn't find them.

I've built a comprehensive list of topics for future videos for using the BoS engine and this does include aircraft famils in a similar vein as to what I did using RoF. I know the cockpit layouts of the BoS aircraft, but I'd like/prefer to know the important details 1CGS has modeled of individual aircraft for these sorts of videos (such as stall speeds, corner speeds, landing speeds with X degrees of flaps, etc..) so I don't have the time consuming task of figuring it out myself. I don't have any source data for these aircraft yet (which may not reflect what is in-game), plus I don't speak Russian or German anyway, so I could only go on what I'm told or what the community figures out.

I've been working on a few videos already (theory is complete but I need to record footage/voiceover obviously) and have also tweaked how the videos will be presented, so I think people will be like the slightly different style. I'm cautious about putting anything out immediately using the alpha though because it is WIP, so I doubt you will see something like that. A generalised famil would be no problem, but I would hate to do videos based on hard data which may need to changed later during the alpha, such as what happened with the SE5 FM revision.

They might already have their own guy to make something along the lines of what you are suggesting, but I'll send a PM to Loft/Jason detailing my plans and see if they can help.

That's great to hear Requiem, your RoF vid's were excellent.  The Dev's would be a bit daft if they didn't ask you to help out, if you're willing of course, Jason often seems to put out requests to the community, and rightly so, if we can help out and put something back, each to their ability. The sim community seems to be particularly good in this regard.

If CEM in Clod is anything to go by then getting the most out of some of the aircraft in BoS, without bending them, might be challenging in it's own right, even without any complicated button pushing, so having short, sweet, videos explaining the basics and what instruments need to be looked at is a real blessing for beginners and the dunderheads (like me).  Much to my fitters chagrin, I go through rather a lot of Hurricane engines in CLOD, fortunately for them they rarely get the old girl back in order to repair it ( I'm thinking of building a causeway between Calais and Dover all by my self).

Great to hear.

Btw in one of the livestreams, with subtitles, one of their engineers shows LaGG-3 engine management in-game and explains how it's different from Il-2 1946, and how the prop control lever doesn't directly control the prop pitch. Interesting stuff, see:

I've checked out some of your vids online Requiem. Good stuff man, that's the sort of thing that can help folks out heaps and in an interesting and entertaining style.

And your wife rocks, lol.

Thanks for the link Hagar.
