chiliwili69 Posted September 25, 2015 Posted September 25, 2015 In the last two years Oculus has posted in their Share page about one thousand demos or small games, I have tested many of them. But here I would like to bring to your attention a very basic and free demo game which resembled me to RoF: Flying Aces VR. https://share.oculus.com/app/flying-aces-vr You only need an Xbox controller and the DK2. If you don´t have a DK2, try to find a friend or someone near you with it. There are more than 100.000 units sold around the world. The game is just a playable demo, but it gives you the feeling of flying on a WWI biplane. Of course, you can not compare it with other VR flight simulations, but It is amazing what a single guy can develop in VR
Freycinet Posted September 25, 2015 Posted September 25, 2015 Looks a bit like my experience with Warthunder and the OR Dev Kit 1: http://www.flightsimvids.com/2013-10.Warthunder.with.Oculus.Rift/index.html - The immersion of flightsimming in VR is just crazy good and literally breathtaking. Can't wait to try out a proper hi-fi combat flight sim (RoF, Il-2:BoS/BoM, Il-2:CoD) with virtual reality glasses that have a really good resolution.
SR-F_Winger Posted September 27, 2015 Posted September 27, 2015 Sadly VR support aint gonna hapen in BOS. Just one of many bad decision that will ultimately lead to the failure of the sim sooner or later.
Feathered_IV Posted September 28, 2015 Posted September 28, 2015 Facebook-Occulus pulled DX9 support and won't respond to communications from the devs. There certainly have been some poor decisions, but I don't think this one is on them.
SR-F_Winger Posted September 28, 2015 Posted September 28, 2015 When CV1 is here every simmer that tries flying with it will leave and never come back to a sim that doesnt offer proper VR support. Just like noone that ever tried TIR will go back to flying with coolieviews.
StickMan Posted September 30, 2015 Posted September 30, 2015 Time to start thinking about developing dx11 support like DCS.
Dakpilot Posted October 1, 2015 Posted October 1, 2015 Time to start thinking about developing dx11 support like DCS. Nope, if an upgrade is to be thought about it should be DX12 Cheers Dakpilot
Blooddawn1942 Posted October 1, 2015 Posted October 1, 2015 I can't see how Oculus is going to work with sims that are systemwise more complex then RoF. RoF is the only sim where I have nearly all functions mapped to the Hotas. I guess it is impossible to use Oculus with DCS, where I have tons of shortcuts mapped to either keybord and some other input devices. No way to hit those shortcuts without seeing the propper keys/buttons/axis... 1

Presumably it will be necessary to raise the VR goggles every thirty seconds or so to have a look at the keyboard when things get busy, or to endure fiddly in flight click-pits. Neither seem like a very appealing solution.

Good point, never thought of it.To enjoy fully VR environment,we will need kind of virtual gloves for hands to mimick grabing/moving with stick and rest of the fiddlers.Sounds like Startrek holodeck to me
