PWCG for BOS Discussion

Guys, forgive the lame question but since I haven't been around for a while, how are Escort missions working for you now? I tried one last night and my leader completely missed the rendez-vous, ending up with the infamous orbiting. Is it possible that climb-out waypoints interfere with a successfull rendez-vous, or are these waypoints synced with the escorted flight's route? :wacko:

If you are escorting another flight that flight will wait for you until you get there.

 

If you are being escorted you will fly your mission waypoints.  Your escort will pick you up at one of those waypoints.

 

Now that you mention it I suppose there is a a scenario where things can go wrong.  If one of your WPs intersects the bombers check zone before you have arrived at your rendezvous it may be possible to trigger the activation of the escorted flight.  Then when you do arrive at the rendezvous they are gone.  You can correct this by altering the WP locations in the briefing to keep climb WPs away from the rendezvous location.

Hey guys.still having a blast with PWCG.

But can i make it generate more ground attacks.have 46 missions behind me.but only a few have been ground attack.And is there ships attack in PWCG?..

i see there is a meny for odds of creating al and axis.but i am not sure wich meny to change

Advanced/Flight menu has a option for "Odds for generating mission in secondary role: Player:" which is 20% by default. That may to be the setting you are looking for.

 

I don`t recall seeing that option before, maybe Pat changed the system lately. Or I just remember wrong.

Zami is correct.  Planes have primary and secondary roles (tertiary will be added in the next release).  I put that in to let players adjust how a campaign plays out without scrubbing twenty missions to get the one that they want.

2 quick questions (I hope).  

 

1).  I've been modifying the squadron config so my Il-2 squads are closer to the front, even on "airstart" it takes too long to get to my target.  Will this screw anything up escort-wise?  Or mess up anything else?

 

2).  I had an "Attack Airfield" mission, and there were no targets except AAA.   Did I mess something up...maybe attacked the wrong field? ;)

 

Just curious...still loving PWCG.  Keep it up!    :salute:

There are not other targets, at least I haven`t seen any. Some static planes would make great targets, hope Pat can add those at some point. And maybe static planes for other airfields also.

At the end of my landing my lagg makes a total spin each time and keeps on rolling in reverse gear...Please help. Thanks

Check the forum which covers manuals and guides. Plenty of info has been posted about this.

Slightly dangerous because the PWCG front moves.  Be careful that you do not end up on the wrong side of the lines.  Also if you get the airfield name wrong things might go bad.  Those are the only risks.

Thanks Luke, yes found plenty of answers. To summarize : before touching the ground : care to have all trims off, care to have all flaps down, care to have the right speed (around 150). Once touched, to play with rudder and brakes with a throttle up to 10/20%...Let's go and try.

I don't presume to suggest how Pat should develop PWCG but if time allows I would love to see alive airfields with parked planes, vehicles etc. Great immersion and increased targets. Also, I think this has been mentioned but Stalingrad is void of a single building. I'm flying F4's, currently the Fall map, the date is October 16, 1942. Not sure if there is a setting somewhere I'm missing.

Been raised, just a lot of work.  For RoF most airfields were one of four types. After mapping suitable locations for four airfields plus a few one-offs I had what I needed for all of RoF .  Based on airfield type and orientation I was then able to put items down on the fields. 

 

 

BoS is different.  There is no airfield object.  Just runways on a terrain map and a collection of individual structures.  I have no way of knowing where to put things other than mapping locations on each individual field, which is not a task I am willing to take up.  If somebody has ideas as to how to programatically identify appropriate locations for objects I will consider it.

Sounds like a really troublesome system, no wonder you haven`t added them. There must be easier way. But unfortunately I don`t know what it might be  :biggrin:

If there is an identifiable revetment object with an orientation and a reliable way to place planes then it might be doable.  Being honest I have not looked into that yet.

Pat,

 

What about using our "groups" system. I can have talented 3rd party teams make "scenery" groups for each airfield and you can simply call on them during the mission creation.

Oh man..

If we had live airports with planes in it to attack and moving tanks and cars in ground missions it would make pwcg even better..

Have played 46 missins now.and stil only trains are moving in ground missions.

i have no solid information but i would assume that Pat will wait for the next patch which may bring the new map in addition to the Ju-88.

I'm waiting on the Ju-88 for the next release.  That is an easy add.  I already have some things done but I wanted to get the Ju88 in along with everything else.

 

The Moscow map is a whole different animal.

I can't test it myself, being away from home, but I'm curious: has anyone tested how PWCG missions perform, after the move to x64? Are there tangible improvements? Particularly, I would like to hear from users with 3-3.4 GHz processors... and of course, in situations with high numbers of aircraft in the air, especially bombers.

I'm running at 4.7GHz but I saw major improvements in overall engine performance - ie. I was able to double (32 aircraft, 2 flights min, 4 flights max) my aircraft numbers without things going slow motion.

 

FPS remained close to what I had previously at 1440p with 4x AA, 4x LOD and SSAO.

I'm no expert, but it looks like a Java problem.

Patrick will probably know what it is.

My code is written using Java 8, so there is an expectation that an up to date Java version is installed.  The 64 bit thing seems to bite quite a few people.  I develop on a 64 bit system so things might not work on 32 bit.

In the screen where you enter your name and the date, select the squadron that has the applicable plane you want. The plane will be listed under the squadron name after you select one.

Thanks Pat! Unified 1.0 is working great for me. The new skin assignment menu is working great and the new GUI scales much better with my 1440p display.

 

I was getting a solid 70+ FPS with engagements this large - note that there are even some of the notorious He111's up there as well.

I'm counting 24 aircraft in this screenshot - there were more in the vicinity that I wasn't able to squeeze in to the shot.
