BraveSirRobin Posted September 23, 2015 Posted September 23, 2015 Another matter of fact is a lot of the die-hard supporters around here don't fly the sim... You have provided zero evidence supporting this claim.
StG2_Manfred Posted September 23, 2015 Posted September 23, 2015 You cannot compare online and offline. The AI never acts like human players do. Human players are unpredictable, exited or tired, making mistakes, acting depending on the situation, etc. AI is following more or less a script (at least in games where your cpu has more to do than just simulate one entity. This can be seen in all kind of games. 1

II/JG17_HerrMurf Posted September 23, 2015 Author Posted September 23, 2015 (edited) We have drifted pretty far afield of, "go to or revisit the Rate it Now poll," to a bunch of yelling and critiquing the FM's. Go to the poll or don't but the FM discussion is inappropriate in this thread. You can up or down vote in the appropriate poll. This post was simply an observation of where the POLL sits. Clearly there is more work to do but I think it's pretty well done at this juncture. The original poll seems to confirm my opinion for the most part. At this point I'm OK with mods closing the thread as it has diverged significantly from the original intent. Original Poll (which I should have linked to in the first place) is here: http://forum.il2sturmovik.com/topic/11927-rate-it-now-it/ Edited September 23, 2015 by [LBS]HerrMurf

Bearcat Posted September 23, 2015 Posted September 23, 2015 I never challenged anyone's due diligence but pointed out a flaw in your original statement, that's all... Furthermore, they are wrong in many cases and this has been proven by the due diligence of other community members... They just decided they didn't want to support updates to their FM's after the fact... That wasn't my business/development decision but as a frequent flyer and an investor in the product I have every right to critique the product however often and in whichever form I like within the guideline of the forum rules. Less than 1/8th of my play time is online, BC... I never said you had to play online to have an accurate picture and you should stop drawing the context of other peoples' arguments and injecting it into my own... You do have to play it at all to have an accurate picture, though... That is a matter of fact... Another matter of fact is a lot of the die-hard supporters around here don't fly the sim... They see pictures of eye candy and the impression of others and formulate their opinions off of that... A poor way to go about it if you ask me and those types of opinions nary hold up in intellectual debate. In this post you responded to a post of mine that was actually not even directed at you. I never said that you said that.. and my entire point in the other post was that that poster inferred that one had to play online to be ion a position to know what they were talking about as far as FMs go. That is not true. You cannot compare online and offline. The AI never acts like human players do. Human players are unpredictable, exited or tired, making mistakes, acting depending on the situation, etc. AI is following more or less a script (at least in games where your cpu has more to do than just simulate one entity. This can be seen in all kind of games. Of course they are different. No one said they were not.. but when testing a virtual aircraft would you not test it in the same manner in which a real one was done.. or at the very least have a consistent methodology that was easily repeatable and measurable... ? That testing would be done on that given aircraft and it would not or should not matter if it is online or offline. That was the gist of my post that you quoted that started this leg of dialog between us.. Also... you do not know who has the sim and who does not .. Even if they say they do not have it.. you have no way of possibly knowing if that is true.. whether they are a supporter or a detractor..
