BeastyBaiter Posted September 17, 2015 Posted September 17, 2015 Today I ran into someone who'd actually memorized the spawn location for an air start on one of the DED Normal missions. He circled it within about 1km and anytime someone would spawn he'd be shooting them before they could so much as disable the AP level hold. I'm sure it took a lot of effort to narrow the spawn location down that precisely, but it doesn't make it any less dirty. The guy completed the tactic by despawning/bailing/exiting anytime he was in danger of being shot in return. I have no suggestions for how to deal with those types of players, they are present in every game. But it did surprise me that someone managed to memorize an air start spawn location. I haven't played BoS regularly in months, so maybe this kind of thing is fairly common now. But it's the first I'd seen of it.

II/JG17_HerrMurf Posted September 17, 2015 Posted September 17, 2015 (edited) It is dirty but on the other hand I don't understand why an airspawn is so close to the front. In all of the '46 servers I used to play on the airstart was primarilly in the rear for the bombers to get altitude without having to spiral up for forty minutes. The DED servers have many of them at the front which encourages all kinds of gamer hijinx. I've ranted over this several times. My (least) favorite of these tactics is dogfighting 1v1 and finally destroying my opponent close to the ground because we were away from the furball and I had nothing to fear..............only to get jumped by the same guy thirty seconds later because he air started a kilometer away at 1500m and a full head of steam. Willy__ Posted September 17, 2015 Posted September 17, 2015 (edited) You can always spawn on other bases.... you can also play on expert servers, so there are no icons. Actually its pretty easy to determine the spawn location with icons, all you just need to do is fly a circle above the "spawn point", the players spawning there will be shown with the icons. Anyways, I used to play on normal servers.... not anymore. Too much furball and the icons spoil the chance of ambushes. But its a good for shooting practice. Edited September 17, 2015 by istruba
BeastyBaiter Posted September 17, 2015 Author Posted September 17, 2015 Yes it's easy enough to avoid, but that wasn't my point. The point is someone managed to memorize the spawn location so precisely that he could aim at it before the other guy actually materialized. Very impressive from a technical standpoint though no less dirty.
Feathered_IV Posted September 17, 2015 Posted September 17, 2015 What was the name of this guy? It would be useful to know so I can avoid using an airstart while he's present. It will give him less targets too and encourage him to move on to some other tactic.
Trident_109 Posted September 17, 2015 Posted September 17, 2015 Puts a whole new meaning into CAP. Not just for home bases anymore.
=38=Tatarenko Posted September 17, 2015 Posted September 17, 2015 I've come across something similar where they guy was just spraying ammo at targets then bailing when his guns ran dry. No attempt to fly home or anything.
