questions about grhx card

ok 

whats the deal with graphix cards here do i just go for the most expensive card on the market

i see a radeon R9 270x for about £200  but theres a R9 290X for just over £300

im running a 720hp widescreen monitor and likely not to change it i do have a normal tv with a pci slot i think.that be great for videos but thats not needed so i want to play BoS BoM and RoF properly now on a new set up i have a ddr2 memory motherboard and was wondering on what grphx card i should get

is there anything else you need to know guys in bos flight sim land

right now im on a hd5670 radeon and its like the year 1998 graphics

Personally I would recommend Nvidia GTX970 over AMD R9 290X, less power less heat quieter, etc.

 

GTX970 can be found at places like overclockers for 270 GBP Nvidia has better performance and drivers (DX9)  with BoS/flight sims in general but in other game types not much difference

If you want play Bos(and basically every game) you also need very good CPU,which i assume... you dont have in your old system...so 280x is not good upgrade,you dont see any performance gains if your CPU is slow.

That chip runs at 2.66Ghz, correct? Most folks are running chips in the 3.5Ghz or better range, and a lot are overclocked to 4+Ghz, and BOS performance seems more bound to CPU speed than GPU speed. You have no chance to run Il2 BOS well with that old Q9450,on 2.66ghz you will see horrible frame rate,and even if you OC that chip it will be far from ideal.Also AMD cards are bad choice for flight sims,Nvidia is much better especially on drivers side.
