Reflections in the water

I noticed in some of the screen shots reflections of trees, hills, and sky on the rivers. Does any other sim do this? It is a pretty cool feature for an air combat sim.

X-Plane and P3D do it.... ( reflections in water, I mean... )

 

Outerra does it as well.

Il-2 Forgotten Battles did it and LOMAC did it and everything else since has done it too. But I do have to say that what we've seen of the work in progress shots are stunning and exceptionally well done.

But there it looked like crap tbh. In RoF it's quite well done, and in BoS it promises to be downright gorgeous.

Yeah, but for the time is was astonishing to see your plane and world reflecting like that.

RoF water is amazing but there's something that i don't like and hope it will be adressed

in BoS/BoM is the lack of transparency for shallow waters, using just a texture for it, that makes

it look odd when a plane crashland and the parts submerged disappears under the texture.

 

Now many games has through water transparency since the silent hunter III IRC.

It would be a nice little touch, but let's be honest: Silent Hunter games have more use for realistic water effects than we do. We mainly need it to look good from above.

 

One thing I'm interested in though: Will different wind settings have influence on how the surface of the water looks? Will there be visible waves on the lakes in strong winds? And if so: Will raindrops hitting calm water create realistic rain ripples like this:

How it looks if a plane crash into water.. How bullets react with the water. There are a lot question but no answer for it. Maybe it is to much from everything :lol:

RoF is a 2009 Game. We write 2015 and here I expect more much more improvement. Maybe you can help me a little out with some screenshots from the newest build what improvements over RoF are to expect. Is this not a great Idea? :salute:

Typically what is missing and hard to model correctly with water is turbulence of the water. And actually only very calm, almost still water is reflective

It's the same graphics engine with only a few minor updates. It will look mostly the same I think. I think RoF's water is done very well though, so although it won't be new, it will be good.

Maybe that is what will be integrated into BoS

 

perhaps there are those more familiar with the Changes/new features the Channel Map brought who could spread some light

And the subs actually dive if they spot you, then all you can see its it's telescop....well those with good eyes see it hehehe

That can wait a bit I think. In any case we won't have a map with a significant body of water to warrant such an effect at least untill we get the Murmansk map.

sure mate, i'm not demanding that now, but it will be a nice feature eventually when the series moves to a more watery scenary

Devs already stated that the models, maps, etc from RoF are not compatible

Yes I think I remember at info, But would be good to hope. If compatible I would re-purchase map to use in Quick missions

Far too many changes would need to be made to make it look like a plausible 1940s-era map.
