Remontti Posted September 9, 2015 Posted September 9, 2015 Talking about TrackIR here. In DCS you have sort of automatic head movement to the side when you look back. The viewpoint is moving to the left / right when you turn your head enough to left or right. In BoS we need to turn our head and lean to the side in order to have a better view to back. I really like this feature in DCS and would like to have it in BoS too. I tried editing CURRENT.MAP file in INPUT-folder and changed the line: action("bc_head_trans_z_p","State","_trackir_axis_X"); to action("bc_head_trans_z_p","State","_trackir_axis_YAW"); TrackIRs Yaw axis now controls both pilot head yaw and side-to-side movement. The head leans to side same time when looking back. Almost like in DCS, but now it is impossible to lean to side when looking forward. If you put both lines into the file only the latter one is applied. Is there anyway to have the head movement tied to YAW and to X-axis at the same time? In TrackIR itself or in BoS? ps. Editing other files in INPUT-folder didn't seem to have an effect. And I also write protected CURRENT.MAP file after editing. Otherwise it was re-written when launching the game.
Bearcat Posted September 10, 2015 Posted September 10, 2015 I am not sure what you mean. With my TIR it is pretty fluid.. I can go from side to side and look over my shoulder at the same time if that is what you mean.
Remontti Posted September 10, 2015 Author Posted September 10, 2015 I mean that if you turn you head and look back, you will be looking at the head rest of your seat. You will need to lean to side to have a better view past the head rest. In DCS when you turn head and look back, you will be leaning to the side and looking past your head rest. You don't need to physically lean to the side when looking back: the game automatically moves your virtual head in sideways when looking back. It's just a little extra feature in DCS that feels natural to me and I was wondering if I could get that same feature to BoS somehow.
9./JG27DavidRed Posted September 10, 2015 Posted September 10, 2015 (edited) if they decide to implement it, then please only optional, or much much better than in dcs. in dcs i find it very distracting, and i disabled that setting in the lua files for every module. here in BOS for me it was a real pain to set up trackir to work the way i want it, but now i find it rather convinient. SharpeXB Posted September 11, 2015 Posted September 11, 2015 I actually like the DCS head motion in that regard as well. 2
