Yak-1 key bindings issues with my Roccat Powergrid template

Hi all...first post

 

I have just come to BOS after flying exclusively FSX for many years so am a complete newbie to this sim.

 

I have downloaded Chuck's incredible guide, the great one page cockpit guides by =RkSq=Lodebeard (thanks a lot!) and the manual but have some issues.

 

Attached is my first Roccat Powergrid template to control various things (as a JPEG picture and Json file - as TXT).

- you download and install PC program and also Android App (both are free with one custom grid and it costs $1.29 for each additional from memory)

- allows you to control the plane with no lag from an Android device

- put the TXT file in My Documents => ROCCAT => Power-Grid => CustomGrids and then rename extension to JSON so it will be BOS.json (I did it this way so you can see it is just a setting txt file).

- have attached pictures of it (not pretty yet).

 

I have issues with some things regarding the Yak 1 (doing the very first mission of taxi, take off and landing):

- the water radiator is not working?

- the wheel brakes are not differential? or even working?

 

Would also like feedback (though it is personal as to what is important, I plan to fly in full real mode) as to the choice of key bindings I have made.

They are, but on Russian planes is need press the "wheel brakes" key/button (not the left/right brake key/buttons), move the rudder for the side of the wheel that desire brake (this is detailed in Chuck Guides).

 

The way that brakes are mapped in you app is suitable only German planes (toe brakes).

Anyone got the wadiator radiator issue solved?

If you are playing in EXPERT mode should be work, the keys assigned is correct (default).

BTW - Try remapping the control for single keys instead combo, are various keys unused.

 

If you are playing in CUSTOM mode you need un-tick some "aids" do be able to control the radiators.

 

-Engine auto control

-Radiator assist

 

And look at "Engine Controls" are shortcuts to turn ON/OFF some these "aids", e.g. "Switch water radiator control modes: manual/auto"

Thanks....I have custom mode with everything unticked except the GAMEPLAY items which I have all ticked.

 

I think however the solution may be the single keys because just before switching off last night I pressed lock tailwheel (left shift G) on my Roccat Powergrid and the landing gear went up. Started the mission again and using the keyboard worked but again the Roccat Powergrid failed (why it failed on that and not so many others I don't know) but I think you have nailed it. Will report back after work

 

I have bought premium BOM and BOS why do I only have one badge?

The BoS badge was only given during early access, you have the BoM badge because you have bought in during development (early access)  long before official release

Yes, the issue is the combo keys, the game have problem with keystrokes send be external program, is need use delay between each key press - see related topics about TARGET, CH Manager, SST...

If this Powergrid don't allow you set delays, a ease workaround is just remap the commands for single keys.

I have decided I will make a spreadsheet and Roccat templates for the planes over the next week or 2.

I am trying to improve my Roccat template. Have used graphics from other ones. Considering they are free I am sure they don't mind. Don't expect its great or anything noting I am a beginner of both BOS and Roccat.

 

I have changed the water radiator and some other keys to a single key and they now work. Not everything is 100% tested.

 

Anyone can load it and edit it. It would be great if others did and posted it here.

 

To use the attached you need to unzip it and import it into Roccat's power-grid editor (can double click it and Roccat's Power-grid will open it too). Remember virus scan first.

You can set the Water Radiator and Cowl Flaps in the same keys/buttons, since no plane have both.

Some bombers have Aileron Trim.
