Xarts19 Posted September 3, 2015 Posted September 3, 2015 I was wondering, is it possible to stop or derail the train by blowing up railroad tracks ahead of it?
Finkeren Posted September 3, 2015 Posted September 3, 2015 (edited) Pretty sure, that it isn't. Would be a cool feature, but since tracks are part of the static scenery on the map, and blast craters are purely cosmetic and disappear after a short while, I just don't think it's realistic to hope for this to be posible in this sim. Dakpilot Posted September 3, 2015 Posted September 3, 2015 Think you can achieve it by blowing a bridge ahead of it, I saw a vid of that https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uhsJwj2LD8Q Cheers Dakpilot
II/JG17_HerrMurf Posted September 3, 2015 Posted September 3, 2015 Yes, destroy the bridges. Very effective. The best, however, is destroying the far end of the bridge while the train is entering the opposite side and watching it fall into the ravine.

II/JG17_HerrMurf Posted September 3, 2015 Posted September 3, 2015 One bomb = train, tender, and 3-6 cars. Best "bang" for your buck, as it were.
Finkeren Posted September 3, 2015 Posted September 3, 2015 Not to mention the fact, that by going for the bridge you can stay at a safe distance from the pesky AAA guns on flatbed. Those are supremely annoying/deadly.

SCG_Space_Ghost Posted September 3, 2015 Posted September 3, 2015 Yes, destroy the bridges. Very effective. The best, however, is destroying the far end of the bridge while the train is entering the opposite side and watching it fall into the ravine. Many months ago I attempted this and all that happened is the engine miraculously switched sides and went back to truckin' in the other direction. I'll have to try that again and see if I can get one to crash off of the bridge.
II/JG17_HerrMurf Posted September 3, 2015 Posted September 3, 2015 Shouldn't. I've destroyed many a steam engine this way over several months now. It is the easiest way rather than straffing up and down the line while being exposed to the trains AA. Hit it just before or while it is on the bridge. And remember you are getting the train by hitting the bridge. No need to drop the bomb directly on the engine but you also can't hit it miles out in front. I'll have to do some testing to see if the train stops and/or turns around if you do. I seem to think it stops now but could be wrong.

I will report back on my findings as well.
6./ZG26_Emil Posted September 3, 2015 Posted September 3, 2015 I saw a video of someone who dropped a bomb on a bridge as the train approached and it just stopped before the bridge, I remember someone commenting on how cool it would be if the train had carried on and gone in to the river.
avlSteve Posted September 3, 2015 Posted September 3, 2015 Seems like it would be more realistic if the train would stop if it had enough time.
