Oh come on, it is a very good plane but inferior to the de Havilland Mosquito in all respects. (They like hot weather too... ;))

Some of the boys at Tangmere have a plan to kidnap Prangster (who did the Mosie for '46) and hold his toes over a fire until he agrees to rustle us up a BoS-quito.

It'll happen. By Jove, it'll happen!...  :P

...or is the Peshka just awesome in terms of looks and firepower? I love flying this thing with summer skins in the summer map testing. Diggin' it!

Finally Someone Re-uploaded the summer map video leeak!!!

Loll.. An interesting thing about that video.. Look at the way the landscape looks betweem say 4:30 and 6:30.. and compare that to what we have in BoS. Especially on some of the spring map screenshots.. Also from around 12:00 to 13:00.. Very interesting..

Oh that is nice: and the little Vampire too: I remember those from my dad's RAF bases in the early sixties. (Also Javelins, Lightnings and the awesome V bombers among other things). Military planes today are just boring by comparison...

I'm thinking summer is just around the corner.

In an interview (which I hope I can find) Captain Eric Brown lit up when he was talking about the Pe2, seemed to have been his favorite Soviet WW2 plane that he got to fly.

Supposedly it was an absolut joy to fly in any situation other than takeoff and landing.

Is that a 20mm on the nose???

Looks like the same UB machine gun that's usually there.

Believe me Jason, I am thinking about summer and fall. Winter maps are beautifully build in BoS but it will be so refreshing to see green after a long winter

The longest winter anyone could remember. It is lasting for nearly two years now... ;)

For some reason I figured the Series 35 would be it.

I don't see how they don't add the Pe-3, at least a x1, 20mm even as a modification.

I am heart broken.

Jason,

a true masters creation, the whole of the IL2 BoS and upcoming BoM tittles.  I only regret being only air combat / war oriented ( because I am viscreally against War... ).

I use it because I can't reeally give up on using what I consider probably the most advanced flight dynamics I ever experienced in any of my sims, but would really love to see a "Civil" port of the theme, with interesting rescue missions, air taxi transport to difficult areas, aerobatics, air races, fire combat, agricultural operations... or even basic flight training...

Maybe one day, who knows.... :-)

That would be cool, flying UN (Hercules) transport aircraft into hotspots to deliver supplies. or maybe coast guard duties / search rescue on dirt fields. There are lots of possibilities. Having said that.... doing combat missions adds so much more risk / challenge.

I don't think you know... In the most popular multiplayer server (and others), "Wings of Liberty", there's a "Transport" role where you can fly a He-111/Pe-2 and refill aerodromes.

For an example, there's limits on aircraft spawns at every airfield, if one doesn't return, that airfield loses that aircraft... Everytime I join the server, the forward airfield has no more Bf-109 F-4's left, but that airfield can be re-supplied of aircraft if you just fly and and land... It's vital to win the mission but no one but I and a few others actually do it. Last fall AbortedMan created a mission where you had to re-supply the pocket on MP..

It's there, you just have to fly MP, I hope to see you in the skies in WoL!

:salute:

It gives the sim a whole different feel to me.

Oh I can believe that. Looking forward to the greenery...

are these "green" maps gonna be available in Bos (not just BoM)? i sure hope so. the winter has always been a depressing time for me...lack of light, cold, bleak, colorless.... the BoS map just has a certain psychological negative trigger for me. i like the green maps in RoF, not so much the white/winter ones. hoping for some variety in BoS.

i heard a comment about the planes being more difficult to spot nearer the ground...hmmm...maybe ill survive a few minutes longer then.

Yes, autumn and summer maps are coming to BoS in near future.

THX ZAMI...i didnt want to really complain about the white winter map since, after all, it is battle of STALINGRAD.

At first I really dislike the whole blinding white from the snow. But after some time playing and a few tweaks on configuration/sweetFX it started to grow on me and now I love it! Also, I've never seen such beautiful and well done snowy landscape.

I think the problem really lies with the gamma. you cant fully adjust within the game, and need to make the changes within the .txt config files. Some friends of mine complained about the "too much white" and after I teached them the gamma tweak all of them said the game looks miles better.

Anyways, its good that the new seasons are coming, more variety and hopefully we see some overheating planes.

I hear you, but it gets a little dark in the cockpit in the mornings and evenings!

The snow covered map was a bold move, and done very well, but white on a computer monitor is harsh.  I suspect that once the other maps arrive, the winter map will be, for the most part, forgotten.

personally I cannot use a gamma this low (black cockpit and very dark sky), it  (0.50000) obviously is not meant to be used generally,  as needing an .ini edit, I think having a serious look at your monitor settings particularly contrast, would give you a better overall experience without the drawbacks of such a low gamma setting,

Just a opinion ;)

This worked for me. I had too much contrast on my display. I lowered it to reasonable levels and use ingame gamma 1.0.

Can't adjust gamma in real life. Snow blindness is very much a real thing over totally white snow landscapes.

Many pilots complained of the blinding effect and visual impact of flying over fully snow covered landscapes. Its far more accurate as is than darkening with gamma due to the reflective properties of pure white snow.

Splotchy areas of snow with ground coming through is far different from pure white in every direction. It should be blinding. Snow reflects 80% or higher of sunlight that hits it, and the entire surface is covered by it here.

From a purely technical point of view, I'm wondering if adjusting gamma that low will still be a good thing to do when the summer maps will be released ?

We're still seeing the landscape through a monitor, very different spotting from the good old Mk1 Eyeball. If it makes it better for me to lower the gamma, I'll lower the gamma.

About the summer/autumn maps, if the lower gamma makes too unconfortable, I'll just switch it back to higher values, its quite simple and fast process.  :)
