indiaciki Posted August 26, 2015 Posted August 26, 2015 Yesterday I did a deadtick landing. cutting engine at downwind went into a dive turn and applied full flaps (30s into the video). I lost no speed at all (200km/h) only my variometer showed a decrease in descent. Maybe that was because of the dive. I don't know. I expected a significant airspeed loss that didn't happen. wtornado Posted August 26, 2015 Posted August 26, 2015 The plane has a lot of lift with those Gull wings plus applying full flaps I could not see it but you would of probably had to push you stick forward quite a bit to keep that nose down at that angle. Your angle of approach was pretty steep there for a while. Putting your prop pitch at 100% adds to the braking of the aircraft and that helps slow you down it is a big prop that creates a lot of drag at 100%..

I kept it steep because I was anticipating a lot of drag - kept airpeed at 200 km/h.and Yes - i put my propeller at max to slow her down. I initally thought I would overshoot. She has enormous lift with flaps down. Nothing to be expected of a plane of 3,800+ kg without bombs. Edited August 26, 2015 by indiaciki
6./ZG26_5tuka Posted August 28, 2015 Posted August 28, 2015 200 is nearly too fast for the Stuka. It handles way better at 180 km/h and it's touchdown speed is ~130 km/h with full flaps. If you approach with 180, flare at 150 and keep pulling till touchdown speed the stuka is actually quize enjoyable to land. 1
