Blooddawn1942 Posted August 26, 2015 Posted August 26, 2015 Now this is big news!! http://www.ironmaiden.com/iron-maiden-and-the-book-of-souls-go-jumbo-on-massive-2016-world-tour.html Once again, Iron Maiden kick off for another World Tour in their own Airliner like in 2008-2011. But this time not in an 757. It´s gonna be even bigger! Vocalist Bruce Dickinson is doing the licences needed to transist from the 757 to the 747, because he is piloting the Ed Force One himself (partial I guess) around the World on the upcoming Tour. Just Amazing!
Finkeren Posted August 26, 2015 Posted August 26, 2015 I hate to say it, but Dickinsons voice has really gone south after his battle with cancer. I love the guy, but he really should put music on the shelf for now and focus on getting through this.
Blooddawn1942 Posted August 26, 2015 Author Posted August 26, 2015 I watched the Speed of Light clip, which has been revealed just the last Week, a lot of times. Of course his voice matured over the years. But listening to this New song, I would judge, that his voice did not suffered from the cancer of which he has recovered completly. Less then two weeks until the New record Hits the shelfes. I am really looking forward to this!
von_Tom Posted August 27, 2015 Posted August 27, 2015 I had the chance to have a chat with him at an aftershow party in around December '88. He probably thought I was a weirdo (brown cords and long hair at an IM concert...). My over-riding memory is what a lovely bloke he was. von Tom ps I almost knocked over Jonathan King who is a very big guy. Given what we know now I'm glad I didn't. pps I also got very very drunk (free drink) and it took some rock guy (probably famous but I was oblivious) to help me open the toilet door. Soooo rock 'n' roll.
von_Tom Posted August 27, 2015 Posted August 27, 2015 It was a weird night. At the bar pre-concert I managed to exchange words with some dark haired chick around mid-30s (I was 19). My friend (who got the VIP tickets) told me it was Chrissy Hynde. Ah. I really was oblivious as there were so many people backstage and at the party and I didn't know who any of them were. von Tom
Blooddawn1942 Posted September 25, 2015 Author Posted September 25, 2015 (edited) I thought I must share this! An outstanding epic 18 minutes long song from the new Iron Maiden Album, which is called "Empire of the Clouds". It´s about the british Airship R101 which crashed in northern France in the fall of 1930. 48 Airmen and passengers were killed in this accident. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/R101 I must admitt, that I never heard of this story before, but it´s damn interesting and the song and especcially the lyrics grants me goosebumps without end! Here´s a nice fan made clip with fitting footage: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8CMY99WLRhc The new Maiden Record also features a cool song about Richthofen and his Dr.I which is called : "Death or Glory". Turn like a devil....Climb like a Monkey!;) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YpqGqn2e2k4 Edited September 25, 2015 by Blooddawn1942 1
I/JG27_Rollo Posted October 1, 2015 Posted October 1, 2015 I must admitt, that I never heard of this story before, but it´s damn interesting and the song and especcially the lyrics grants me goosebumps without end! Holy carp, that's serious goosebump material indeed!
6./ZG26_Emil Posted October 1, 2015 Posted October 1, 2015 Bruce Dickinson used to fly us to work when he was a pilot for Astraeus True story
