Hi. I'm still not sure if I am using my graphic card to its full potential [Ge-force GTX 970,  CPU core i 5-2500K@3.30 GHz,  8 GB Ram]

Settings--Ultra

               Full screen [on]

               Vsync         [on]

               SSAO         [off]

               HDR           [off]

               Distant landscape detail x 4

               FPS Limiter 4

               Gamma correction 0.9

I realize that its down to preference, but I thought that i could push this 970 card, I have found that having SSAO and HDR off, the the detailing is better, especially the landscape.

I,m sure I did read a forum post some time back saying that at the moment BoS does restrict high end cards from being able to show their full potential ?

Cheers. :salute:

You shouldn't need FPS limiter and Vsync both on. Try it with just Vsync on. Also if your running your monitors native res you can uncheck full screen. Some games run much more smoothly that way.

Thanks for the advice :salute:

The best way to see how the settings affect the game is to simply just try them out. I find I get better performance in "full screen" mode even though I am using my monitor's native resolution. For some simple testing try this: Set-up and run FRAPS. Set your BOS options how you want to and then start the "Airfield Mission - IL2" mission. Once you hit P to unpause and start hit A to turn on the autopilot, sit back and monitor how the game performs. It's not very scientific but it will give you a good idea of how the options affect your performance.

I think when I've tried testing scenarios in BoS that the recorded tracks have the same performance as live play but that's worth testing. You can run a Fraps benchmark while playing the mission and then compare it to running the track of the same thing. Last time I checked they were the same. But others results might vary. But by running the same track repeatedly you can see small variations better. Try big dogfights vs solo flights etc. for example a big fight may be limited by your CPU and the graphic settings won't matter.

There is a Graphic Option that push high end cards to show their full potential.  Zak mention long time ago about a Setting where more than three planes turn the game into slow motion. Looks like what we see at the moment thats the max what our Hardware can handle......?????

That depends from player to player. Eyesight etc. And if you are using TrackIR. I definitely see tearing with fps limiter and no vsync. Full screen off isnt much better for me either. Nevertheless, man should try what you suggested and see if its ok for him.

Currently Im using full screen, no HDR and SSAO (resource hog), no ingame AA (resource hog of a kind) and SMAA from Sweetfx which is much faster and does a job. Game runs perfectly with old Oc-ed i7 and GTX670 on 1920x1200 res.

Here is a nice article about different anti aliasings...

I have a 970 and a AMD 8350 with 8 gb ram. It seems to run fine for the most part 40-60 fps on ultra max all settings checked. There are slowdowns on normal when there are 30 players in same area but apart from that its all gravy

Oddly enough I tried a few settings and set-up suggestions and I always revert to my

default card setup believe it or not.

For distance, clarity, lighting default gives me the best picture in Ultra setting with my GTX 660 OC

and the latest Nvidia patch.

Oh and I lower the Gamma settings in game a bit too to stop the blinding blurry effect of the sun on the snow.

Goddamit... I have the exact same cpu + gpu + memory combo and the game looks and runs like crap for me. It's a stutter fest with bad fps. Da heck is wrong with my game?

Try disabling full screen.

I get horrible stuttering, with FS on.

how on earth you run this game on ultra smoothly in mp? I have 670 and using standard settings on 1920x1200 for smooth gameplay in mp...

Like i said default settings is the best for me with the last patch running Win 10.

1920x1200 is pretty high I personally do not like it high I am an old pilot and the enemy planes are too small

at that setting and my eyes fail me

1920x1080.I have full screen on with Vsync on multi GPU support on SSAO is OFF

HDR is on Distance landscape detail is at 4x and the FPS limiter is a 60

antialiasing is a 4 and my gamma is at 0.9

graphic settings in nvidia CP? That means you have power management mode set to Adaptive and that doesnt make sense since its always better to have set to Prefer maximum performance..also ultra settings in game is definitely too much for 660ti/670/Oc 660 on full hd... But good for you if everything works fine. Im 39 and I have perfect eyesight so any signifficant drop of frames I would notice.

Regarding you resolution. You really should run the game on native  (factory default) resolution of your monitor. Everything else is with uglier picture. Like I said in other topic I nocite screen tearing if Im not using Vsync (that is with TrackIR). With FPS limiter I also notice screen tearing.
