dreaux88 Posted August 21, 2015 Posted August 21, 2015 I have the Saitek Pro Flight X-55 Rhino and I can't get BoS to accept my joystick. It will not let me program the pitch and roll as well as yaw. I have gone into setting and tried to change for my joy stick but it either does not see it or it is not remembering my changed settings. Am I doing something wrong?
No_85_Gramps Posted August 21, 2015 Posted August 21, 2015 How have you got it set up? USB 2 or 3? Direct to the PC or through a hub? How did you perform the install of the drivers, and are you using the Saitek programming software ?
dreaux88 Posted August 22, 2015 Author Posted August 22, 2015 (edited) How have you got it set up? USB 2 or 3? Direct to the PC or through a hub? How did you perform the install of the drivers, and are you using the Saitek programming software ? I have tried both USB 2 (in the computer) and USB 3 (in a hub) and didn't seem to make a difference. I just installed the driver, is there a special way to install it? No I am not using the Saltek programing software. I did get the roll working but when trying to set a key for the pitch it didn't work or see it. I downloaded War Thunder just to see if the X 55 Rhino would work with that and it did. Seems to be a BoS problem. Edited August 22, 2015 by dreaux88
No_85_Gramps Posted August 22, 2015 Posted August 22, 2015 Try this and see what happens. Unplug the stick and throttle and then uninstall the driver. Re-install the driver but do not plug in the stick and throttle until the software install tells you to. Plug in the stick first then the throttle. Re-boot your system and give it a try. I have my stick/throttle connected thru a USB 3 hub and it works fine in the game. Sometimes windows gets the stick and throttle assignments reversed (i.e. it thinks the throttle is the stick) but the re-boot usually gets everything fixed.

No_85_Gramps Posted August 22, 2015 Posted August 22, 2015 They don't show up in add/remove programs. Open device manager and go to the following: Right click on the Saitek entries and select uninstall.

No_85_Gramps Posted August 23, 2015 Posted August 23, 2015 Oh that's right, I forgot. So did I. I looked in add/remove prgs myself.
dreaux88 Posted August 25, 2015 Author Posted August 25, 2015 I did all you suggested and I notice that sometimes Windows or the games has trouble with which is the throttle and which is the joystick.as you had mentioned. I am thinking or returning it. Perhaps I will go with the Saitek X52 Pro Flight stick. Any thoughts on what might me a good flight stick?
71st_AH_Hooves Posted August 25, 2015 Posted August 25, 2015 I disn't have this prob, but a problem where my throttle would send random button presses. Fixed it.....by getting a warthog.

I have gone into setting and tried to change for my joy stick but it either does not see it or it is not remembering my changed settings. Settings > keymapping > main controls > Plane control: pitch > move the joystick back and forth several times until the axis name appear in the box. Hit APPLY. Etc.

Some other members may be more knowledgeable in the area of sticks/throttles. If the stick/throttle works in other games I'm not sure why it doesn't work in BOS. Maybe take a shot at resetting the controls to their default values and re-enter your stick/throttle settings?
1./KG4_ArthurMimo Posted August 25, 2015 Posted August 25, 2015 Are you having problems only in BoS? I might be posting a dumb thing here, but initially I thought BoS wasn't recognizing my twist properly until I calibrated the yaw axis 'the other way' around. When you set the controls, it asks you first to turn into the direction that increases some value, and then in the other; and apparently, BoS considers only one way to be up but doesn't tell you whether it's left or right. Have you already contacted Saitek's support? They've had terrible problems with their (early) X55 but they're working hard to fix the problem. Because so many of their early products have had issues like ghost button presses due to failing cables and the likes, I know several people who have received brand new sets, without any fuzz, after describing their specific problems to customer support. Given that they don't hesitate to replace their sticks if things go awry I think that they are very sincere about helping their customers.
dreaux88 Posted August 25, 2015 Author Posted August 25, 2015 Thanks, I will contact Saitek support. I also have ghost buttons that will appear and I didn't click them.
No_85_Gramps Posted August 25, 2015 Posted August 25, 2015 Thanks, I will contact Saitek support. I also have ghost buttons that will appear and I didn't click them. Ghost buttons seemed to be most present when using USB 2. The general recommendation was to use a powered USB 3 hub.
indiaciki Posted August 25, 2015 Posted August 25, 2015 Same problem with saitek stick & rudders after win update last week. Win 7 pro
