6./ZG26_Gielow Posted August 20, 2015 Posted August 20, 2015 What is the "best" solution to reduce snow brightness???
Dakpilot Posted August 20, 2015 Posted August 20, 2015 The Contrast setting on your monitor/graphics is probably the best way, Contrast is what defines brightness, strangely and not the brightness setting, most monitors/TV's have this too high at default and BoS is very sensitive to a slightly high setting Adjusting the ingame gamma low is used by many but (personal opinion ) I feel this should only be as a last resort after the monitor settings are calibrated, otherwise low gamma settings give other issues such as increasing the colour difference between high and low res forest textures, making the 'bubble' more noticeable than it needs to be Cheers Dakpilot 1
Willy__ Posted August 20, 2015 Posted August 20, 2015 (edited) Reduce gamma on the startup file. The gamma reduction available ingame doesnt even make much difference, try changing the gamma value to 0.5 on the config file to see the difference! Edited August 20, 2015 by istruba
Finkeren Posted August 20, 2015 Posted August 20, 2015 The snow is not really 'too shiny' though. There's a reason people wear sunglasses, when they go skiing.
-TBC-AeroAce Posted August 20, 2015 Posted August 20, 2015 Snow is BLINDING!!!!!!! U get snow blindness and sunburn skiing as a very high proportion of the sunlight is reflected. I would go as far as saying what we have in game is not bright enough not that I want it to be increased and I do actually use the gamma trick to calm it down
SCG_Space_Ghost Posted August 20, 2015 Posted August 20, 2015 The snow is not really 'too shiny' though. There's a reason people wear sunglasses, when they go skiing. And there is a reason I don't wear sunglasses at my computer screen... Because I'm not skiing... I'm sitting at a computer screen. 3

YoYo Posted August 20, 2015 Posted August 20, 2015 I think the best option is SweetFX. Im user of this. but it depences from the time for sure...

We need this modelled in the sim Nitsche & Gunther anti splinter goggles with darkened lens.....the oxygen mask would be nice too!
KoN_ Posted August 21, 2015 Posted August 21, 2015 (edited) Reshade ~ sweetfx ~ 5tuka ~ profile gamma 0.6 start-up file . terrain file ..by Custard Edited August 21, 2015 by II./JG77_Con
TP_Jacko Posted August 21, 2015 Posted August 21, 2015 I will wait patiently for the grass is too green when the summer maps are here But I know what you mean, I think its worst on clear sky at mid day. I have the gamma correction turned down to 0.7 in teh config file and seems ok to me.
6./ZG26_Custard Posted August 21, 2015 Posted August 21, 2015 Anyone able to direct me please to the most recent and stable version of sweet fa... I mean fx? Here we are Chief: http://forum.il2sturmovik.com/topic/17096-reshade-sweetfx/?hl=%2Breshade&do=findComment&comment=280080 Redhade with SweetFX: http://reshade.me/ The default settings will look no different and you have to play about with the text file. [LBS]HerrMurf's is very nice and you can find his settings in the forum topic.
6./ZG26_Custard Posted August 21, 2015 Posted August 21, 2015 ? So,...reshade IS sweetfx 2.0? is that right? I believe it's all incorporated. I personally don't use it anymore. I gave it a try and it looked very nice. you can alter the gamma settings below default by tweaking the start up ini and get some lovely results without SweetFX etc. Saying that, I'm trying to get use to the vanilla settings because if you turn the gamma down very low night missions are shall we say very challenging.
6./ZG26_Gielow Posted August 21, 2015 Author Posted August 21, 2015 (edited) I changed my screen contrast and reduced gamma correction. It is way better now. After lunch maybe an on line mission on Wings server with my sun glasses lol Thanks again. Edited August 21, 2015 by =[Coffin]=Gielow 1

I had too much contrast in my monitor, affects BoS very much. Lowered it and raised ingame gamma to 1.0. It is much better now and annoying bubble of blur is not so clearly visible.
