How much ammo do gunners have?

I suspect the answer has been given here somewhere but my searches have proved fruitless so far.

Is there any sort of guide/info about how many rounds of ammo the rear gunners in the BoS IL-2 and Pe-2 have and, given the rates of fire for their guns, how many seconds of firing that amount of ammo generally equates to?  And are there separate ammo amounts/supplies for the upper and lower guns for the Pe-2 or do they share the same supply/amount?

Also, is there any function of "reloading" for either the IL-2 rear gunner or the Pe-2 rear gunner(s) or do they just fire till they run out of ammo and then that's it?  In testing so far I have never been able to get the reload function to give me any more ammo once my guns quit firing, so I assume I'm just out by then, but I'm not sure.

The Pe-2 has a single ShKAS in the fuselage that is fed by 3 drums. The other two turrets, which are armed with UBTs, each have one single large belt of ammo.

The Il-2, likewise, has one single belt of ammo for its rear machine gun.

Thanks for the info Luke - do you have any idea/info as to how many rounds are in the belt for the IL-2 (and how many seconds that equates to given the rate of fire for that MG)?

And on the Pe-2, there seems to be one upper rear gun/turret, one lower center gun/turret inside the fuselage and one gun off to the side somehow, also inside the fuselage.  Which of those are the "single ShKAS" with the 3 drums (and do you have to press the reload key to change out the drums?  I haven't been able to trigger that drum change/reload yet, for some reason, at least as far as I can tell so far).    And the two guns/turrets with the UBTs - which ones are those and how many rounds/seconds of fire do they have in their respective belts?

It's a guess but in most cases I suspect they'd have about 30 seconds worth or less.  Belt fed weapons maybe a bit longer - a minute or so.

Definately nowhere near 30 sec of fire with the UBT in the dorsal turret of the Pe-2 S.110.

Yes, on reflection you're probably right.  10-20 seconds of continuous fire maybe...

Not sure on that one.

The single ShKAS is the one sticking out perpendicular to the fuselage, and yes, it has drums that need to be reloaded. It can be moved back and forth between both sides of the fuselage.

Alt+R to reload, the ShKAS are the right/left gun. There is only one gun, so if you need you will have to switch sides with Shift+T I guess. The bottom and top gunners are belt felt and dont need to be reloaded, once the ammo is out you have to land and grab a new plane.

Thanks (to you and Luke and the others) for the info.

I haven't messed much with the side gun in the Pe-2, which is the one with the drums apparently, so that's probably why I haven't seen any effect of the reload command.  Sounds like the top/bottom Pe-2 guns and the IL-2 gun all have single belt-fed supply with no reloading, so I have just been burning through all the ammo as I suspected.  I haven't formally timed it out yet ('cause I wasn't sure I was really running out), but the 20-30 seconds sounds about right based on what has been happening in my test flights - certainly seems to be running dry awfully quick.
