coconut Posted August 17, 2015 Posted August 17, 2015 I'm asking this because I need one account to develop and test multiplayer missions I write, and I'm considering getting a server running all the time, which would require a second account. Can I request a second DServer account, or do I have to buy another license for the game? 1
Skoop Posted August 17, 2015 Posted August 17, 2015 Not sure, but I'm interested in the answer. I'm just guessing, but you could just make another deserver request and see what happens. Might have jump through the same hoops you did for the first one, but I don't see why it would require another license purchase. I for one love that you are putting up a 24/7 server, played on your server a few times last weekend. It only makes sense that you have a test deserver and a fulltime deserver, it benefits us all with the production of new missions.
Jupp Posted August 17, 2015 Posted August 17, 2015 (edited) ~S~ Fellas, NW Fourspeed replied to me, replying to Golgoth in another thread recently. "As Jupp mentions, basically, you need to run two instances of DServer.exe with each one loading a different .sds file and a different startup.cfg". (because they each need a different game account, and different ports). So I would defer to his management of New Wings Servers as canon. Hope that helps, !S -Jupp- Edited August 17, 2015 by Jupp
Skoop Posted August 17, 2015 Posted August 17, 2015 ^ that makes sense, the new wings guys are running a training server and 24/7 combat server. That sounds like what coconut is looking for.
coconut Posted August 24, 2015 Author Posted August 24, 2015 I sent a new request for a dserver account. I received the mail today, but unfortunately I got the same activation key. I suppose that means no more than 1 dserver account per player account.
Skoop Posted August 25, 2015 Posted August 25, 2015 I'd PM Jason, ask for his help. He will either point you in the right direction of setting it up or help you out with a totally different 2nd dserver account. You have done so much for the community with mission development, I don't see why they wouldn't help you out with a 2nd dserver account. It's a no cost item really, and it furthers the enjoyment of the sim for us all.
