Pilot_Rabbit Posted August 25, 2015 Posted August 25, 2015 (edited) Just found this from Zak's thread and I want it so badly! Looks unique and it must not be easy to paint it out. Edited August 25, 2015 by Pilot_Rabbit 1
Nil Posted August 27, 2015 Posted August 27, 2015 Just found this from Zak's thread and I want it so badly! Looks unique and it must not be easy to paint it out. I really would like that one also! Thanks for all nice skins! Will look them over and see what goes where before I try to make one on my own!
migmadmarine Posted August 28, 2015 Posted August 28, 2015 Do hope someone will do that Croatian skin, like the look of those marks.
6./ZG26_Gielow Posted August 28, 2015 Posted August 28, 2015 Can someone paint a white coat over the stalingrad summer skin for a fictional winter skin ??

Pilot_Rabbit Posted August 29, 2015 Posted August 29, 2015 Cheers for that masterpiece, Baron! Absolutely brilliant! Danke schön, das ist sehr gut!
grumppee Posted August 29, 2015 Posted August 29, 2015 Thank you everyone for the wonderful skins. Your talent is much appreciated.
4SCT_Vespa Posted August 30, 2015 Posted August 30, 2015 Thanks Baron...I love all MC202 skin. By the way...I realized that C202 skins look too shiny? On wings I can see fuselage insigna reflected...Any way to reduce the effect?
I./JG1_Baron Posted August 30, 2015 Posted August 30, 2015 (edited) Thank you all for comments. Your words of appreciation was encouraged further work. Well, I will try to improve, it is still just learning. to Vespa: Gloss on the skins is achieved by setting the Alpha channel. I left the settings as in the original template. In my opinion is Alpha channel very well designed and there is no reason to change it. Edited August 30, 2015 by II./JG1_Baron
150GCT_Pag Posted August 30, 2015 Posted August 30, 2015 Hi Baron, thanks for your beautiful skins! You did really a great job, bravo! I have many years of experience as a modeler, and as a fan and as a researcher of the camouflage of the Regia Aeronautica, as Vespa (ciao Federico! ) I hope you do not mind if I give you some suggestions to improve your skin, especially those with smoke rings. In what you have realized, you can notice rings of different sizes, some larger, some much smaller, almost small blotches, while in reality the Macchi factory’s pattern had rings of different shape, but roughly of the same size. Perhaps there was some exception (were always done by hand), but generally the rings had the same size over the entire surface of the aircraft. You may find instead rings of different shape and size on some C.202 repainted on the field, but was aircraft of Cobelligerent Air Force, after the armistice. I hope you do not consider this post as a criticism, it is not my intention, as mentioned above the purpose is just to improve your skins As example, I posted some good profiles in this post http://forum.il2sturmovik.com/topic/16410-mc202-series-viii/ but, as last advice, keep in mind always to never give too much credit to the profiles (are always interpretations of others), and, if possible, to base your works on pictures Ciao, and continue your good work , we need beautiful skin for the Folgore! 1
I./JG1_Baron Posted August 30, 2015 Posted August 30, 2015 Thanks for post Pag. I appreciate every contribution that will help me in the development of skin. I have a question for you guys: do you have any Macchi Mc.202 with pictures, color planes etc?
TG-55Panthercules Posted August 31, 2015 Posted August 31, 2015 Thanks Baron...I love all MC202 skin. By the way...I realized that C202 skins look too shiny? On wings I can see fuselage insigna reflected...Any way to reduce the effect? TBH, most (perhaps all) of the planes in BoS seem to suffer from this high-reflectivity issue. I tried for quite a while to tone this down in the personal skins I did for myself, but the techniques we use in RoF to tweak the alpha channels for this factor did not seem to have the same effect in the BoS templates. I finally got tired of messing with them and just stopped worrying about it - it only really affects screenshot closeups (from certain angles and lighting conditions) and it's not something you can really see from the cockpit or flying by at the usual speeds and distances involved in the game. But I did find it odd that the alpha channels in BoS didn't work exactly like they did in RoF. I'm sure there's some technical reason for it, but I got tired of trying to figure it out.
Danziger Posted August 31, 2015 Posted August 31, 2015 Check the LaGG-3 skin thread. A man named Yakdriver seems to have been able to achieve a more matte finish. I agree though from some angles it looks like the planes were clear coated, waxed, and polished. It doesn't bother me anymore though.
Danziger Posted August 31, 2015 Posted August 31, 2015 http://forum.il2sturmovik.com/topic/15420-custom-alpha-channel-tutorial-gimp-advanced-skinners/?do=findComment&comment=245561 This should also help.
4SCT_Vespa Posted August 31, 2015 Posted August 31, 2015 Hi Pag, nice to see you around here Thanks for heads up SirTophamHatt, as you said it's not so boring the shiny effect...but if we can remove it.....
I./JG1_Baron Posted September 2, 2015 Posted September 2, 2015 (edited) So... from 30th september ( from Vespa`s post about shiny) i did work with Alpha channel. This is so that I was sure that I did not forget anything. After many trials and repetition I can confirm only things what said Panthercules some posts above: "...I tried for quite a while to tone this down in the personal skins I did for myself, but the techniques we use in RoF to tweak the alpha channels for this factor did not seem to have the same effect in the BoS templates. I'm sure there's some technical reason for it, but I got tired of trying to figure it out." I think that it is useless to waste time adjusting Alpfa channel because despite efforts made visible effect was minimal. While the browser (help for skiner, will not remember now the name, it's right in the directory IL2: BOS) is the skin "hard" matte - in the game has a virtually unchanged semi-gloss (which is correct) to shine at some impact light under seen from a specific angle. Furthermore, during the flight is not any skin not particularly bright, quite the contrary. Edited September 2, 2015 by II./JG1_Baron
4SCT_Vespa Posted September 3, 2015 Posted September 3, 2015 Thanks for feedback Baron, I didn't know anythign about all your efforts about this issue. No need to take care anymore about shiny since, as you and other guys stated above, it's not visible in normal flight
Nil Posted September 6, 2015 Posted September 6, 2015 (edited) Please II./JG1_Baron make the http://i1002.photobucket.com/albums/af142/barneybolac/Croatian%20aircraft%20and%20VVJK%20planes/MacchiC.jpgnext Else I have to try to do a historical skin myself, and that will end in tragedy! I'll start on it tomorrow I think.. so you have 3-4 days to make it good Edited September 6, 2015 by Pigmachine
I./JG1_Baron Posted September 6, 2015 Posted September 6, 2015 Pigmachine, skin from your post is in the plan.I have to complete one Bf-109G2 and one MC-202 first. Please patience. Here is my latest skin: Plane: Aeromacchi C.202, MM7720, flown by Sergente Piero Buttazzi, of 84 a Squadrilia, 10° Gruppo, 4° Stormo C. T. 150GCT_Pag Posted September 6, 2015 Posted September 6, 2015 Great work, Baron, with the "smoke rings" in the right dimension , and correct undersides, with the thin grey stripe along the fuselage... Full ahead!!!
KpgQuop Posted September 6, 2015 Posted September 6, 2015 I bet I can find some room on the hard-drive for that. Thanks Baron.
