4SCT_Vespa Posted August 15, 2015 Posted August 15, 2015 Lovely artwork!! Keep up the great skin guys. BTW...just a question to install your piece of arts: I don't find any C202 skin folder into C:\Program Files (x86)\1C Game Studios\IL-2 Sturmovik Battle of Stalingrad\data\graphics\skins folder. Do I need to creat it manually? Does the folder need a specific name? Thanks

Bullets Posted August 15, 2015 Posted August 15, 2015 (edited) Anyone else not have a folder to put Macchi skins in? Mine is missing... Edited August 15, 2015 by Bullets
andyw248 Posted August 15, 2015 Posted August 15, 2015 Those italian smoke rings are nice but a skinner's nightmare If you look at the photo of the MC202 on Wikipedia the smoke rings aren't really rings...
TG-55Panthercules Posted August 16, 2015 Posted August 16, 2015 Anyone else not have a folder to put Macchi skins in? Mine is missing... As noted above, I just created one called "MC202s8" and it worked fine
TG-55Panthercules Posted August 16, 2015 Posted August 16, 2015 After playing around with the Macchi template some more I felt like the initial version of my personal ride (posted in another thread), although patterned after one of the skins 378 Sq. used in Sicily, just looked a little too "muddy" and un-Italian (i.e., not flashy enough) when done in my muted naval colors, so I came up with an experimental Regia Marina naval "sparkle" camo pattern, intended to resemble the sun-reflecting look of the Mediterranean on a typical sunny day (for use by my Italian aviator from the Regia Marina on detached duty serving with TG-55, primarily tasked with anti-shipping and waterborne supply interdiction missions on the Stalingrad front): Summer: Early Winter (the Germans in the unit my Italian pilot was attached to were not very generous to their Italian allies when it came to sharing their scarce supply of white paint, in the early days of the winter): Late Winter (when supplies of white paint were finally replenished, there was enough left over for the Italian allies): 5
Yankee_One Posted August 16, 2015 Posted August 16, 2015 Anyone else not have a folder to put Macchi skins in? Mine is missing... Look here Make a folder and rename it to this: MC202s8
Voidhunger Posted August 16, 2015 Posted August 16, 2015 nice skins Pathercules! mainly first two. remove your personal insignia and let us to use it
Bullets Posted August 16, 2015 Posted August 16, 2015 Thank's guys :D I missed your comments on it.. Great skins!!
4SCT_Vespa Posted August 16, 2015 Posted August 16, 2015 Oh my ...Vig and Babuino...I could get crazy with your beautiful skin. Any way to make any request? You know...I'm italian and I love the Folgore....
4SCT_Vespa Posted August 16, 2015 Posted August 16, 2015 (edited) By the way Vig...hope you don't mind..there is just a note about your great skin. The area under the nose and the rear fuselage should be painted in Dark Olive Green, like the upper side of the fuselage; the Light Blue Gray underwing area extending under the nose and in the rear of fuselage till the stabilizer was a tipycal Breda factory scheme, not used for all the Folgore production. (Macchi, Breda and SAI factory had a slightly different paintscheme....you know...crazy italian) In the following image there are two Folgores with Macc hi and Bread undersurface differences Edited August 16, 2015 by 4SCTVespa 3
Pierre64 Posted August 16, 2015 Posted August 16, 2015 (edited) The color profiles explaining the different camouflages posted by Vespa come from "The Macchi MC.202 Folgore - A technical guide" by Maurizio Di Terlizzi published by Valiant. Highly recommanded. Edited August 16, 2015 by Pierre64
4SCT_Vespa Posted August 16, 2015 Posted August 16, 2015 You r right Pierre, the latest book wrote by my friend Di Tertlizzi is great. Also there are some books by our teammate Ferdinando D'Amico too and a great book "Colori e schemi mimetici of the Regia Aeroinautica" published by our GAVS association, but this latest one is impossible to find being sold out
Zep Posted August 16, 2015 Posted August 16, 2015 Hope these books can help to do historical skins of =Macchi= Links : http://rusfolder.com/44051105 http://rusfolder.com/44072015
4SCT_Vespa Posted August 16, 2015 Posted August 16, 2015 The Light Blue Gray under Surface for not Breda production should be the following one:
Vig Posted August 16, 2015 Posted August 16, 2015 Great stuff! I will study that and fix my previous skin. Thanks much!
Pierre64 Posted August 16, 2015 Posted August 16, 2015 I am trying to unsderstand where and what on the public template but it is long and uneasy...
4SCT_Vespa Posted August 16, 2015 Posted August 16, 2015 Great work so far Pierre...and, I know...it's a pain painting with no references on texture...
Pierre64 Posted August 16, 2015 Posted August 16, 2015 Patience is a virtue... A big salute to Ferdinando !
4SCT_Vespa Posted August 16, 2015 Posted August 16, 2015 Patience is a virtue... A big salute to Ferdinando ! Sure...do you know him? Can I say that Pierre salute him? He will recognize you?
Pierre64 Posted August 16, 2015 Posted August 16, 2015 Yes I do. I had the pleasure to work with him ten years ago for one of his books (with Gabriele Valentini) : Camouflage & Markings of ANR - 1943-1945, published by Classics
4SCT_Vespa Posted August 16, 2015 Posted August 16, 2015 I have that book too...of course . Nice work!
