SOLIDKREATE Posted October 25, 2013 Posted October 25, 2013 (edited) Okay guys here are my Reichsluftfahrtministerium (RLM) colors 2013v.4. These were made possible by Lord Haw-Haw's wonderful color pallet. He created the colors I simply just made them into swatches for Illustrator. ---------------- UPDATE 2013v.4 is now available--------------- They are all named, numbered and ordered. These are CMYK format Reichsluftfahrtministerium (RLM) colors 2013v. 4_CMYK.zip ENJOY! Edited November 17, 2013 by Erg./JG54_SPEKTRE 3

FlatSpinMan Posted October 25, 2013 Posted October 25, 2013 I'm no skinner but I've heard the colours need to be 'scaled' to match the in-game planes. Using the colours (good luck persuading people that these, or any other swatches, are 'correct' :-) ) as is will make things too dark, I believe. Of course you may well be completely aware of this.

Oh yes I am aware. I know the skinners are too. We tend to de-saturate colors and test them when we skin. At least I know I do. I thought this was a good base to start from. FlatSpinMan Posted October 25, 2013 Posted October 25, 2013 Good good. It would have been cruel to watch an innocent walk unprepared into a den of skinning vipers claiming he had the true RLM swatches. 1
JtD Posted October 25, 2013 Posted October 25, 2013 You can be pretty sure that there were plenty of shades of the same RLM colour even back in WW2. There's an just as wide range of "correct" as there is with aircraft performance... Anyway, useful, thank you!
SOLIDKREATE Posted October 25, 2013 Author Posted October 25, 2013 (edited) Good good. It would have been cruel to watch an innocent walk unprepared into a den of skinning vipers claiming he had the true RLM swatches. Oh LOL I know brother. I would never make such a bold claim. What is shown on your monitor is not how it will look in game. I cant tell you how many trial and errors I have had with aircraft in the past. Well actually I can...I had to edit my Bf-109G-6 for JG54 on Wings of Prey about 22 times before it looked semi correct. The yellow kept blaring out at me form the screen. Oh and lets not get into specular maps, you know what I mean . Edited October 25, 2013 by Erg./JG54_SPEKTRE
Lord_Haw-Haw Posted November 11, 2013 Posted November 11, 2013 Well these are the ones I use, they are also being used here in Germany by various people restoring WWII vehicules. 1

Stray Posted November 14, 2013 Posted November 14, 2013 (edited) very nice thread, thank you all for contributing to it. RLM palette that is possibly most commonly used with IL-2 1946 that I use is a poor sister of examples above - can't wait for colour swtaches, Spektre. Will deifintely be skinning for my squad in BoS also - looking forward to psd file and will be following this thread. Edited November 14, 2013 by 9./JG54_Stray

I'll be making a huge swatch set base on the large image posted above from Lord Haw-Haw. This will give us more variety in skins which will add to the realism. SOLIDKREATE Posted January 11, 2014 Author Posted January 11, 2014 So, how is everyone getting along with Lord-Haw-Haws pallet via my file? Are they working okay in your projects?
SOLIDKREATE Posted July 7, 2014 Author Posted July 7, 2014 Are you using Illustrator to open it. It is not a Photoshop file.
Krupi Posted July 7, 2014 Posted July 7, 2014 Yes I have downloaded it now but I just get a blank screen What am I doing wrong?
Krupi Posted July 7, 2014 Posted July 7, 2014 (edited) Wow okay, so I have it working now but I am glad I won't have to use this software again, one of the most tiresome pieces of software I have used! Thank you Edited July 7, 2014 by Krupi
