When will the most numerous Lend Lease aeroplane the P39 grace the BOS/BOM skies ?

It would be a very good choice for a new DLC aircraft, an extra bonus.

Assuming the next installment could be about the Kuban or Kursk battles - then I'd say it would probably show up there. Perhaps as a Premium aircraft.

P-39 makes no sense for either Stalingrad nor Moscow (neither does the Fw 190 but at least it fits the timeframe)

Wait for a 'Battle of Kursk' or 'Operation Bagration' release.

It makes perfect sense for the Murmansk map though :)

I don't think many people here are against the MTO mate. Quite the opposite, I think a lot of us believe that it's about time we get a good CFS to really focus on that overlooked theater. It's just that some of us would like to see the Eastern Front 'finished' first, meaning it should be covered at least from 1941 - 44 (the endgame from Warshaw to Berlin can be skipped IMHO), which will take at least 2 more titles to do.

MTO include one of the most popular air battle of WW2; Malta.

Not the biggest one or the battle that was the most equilibrated. But a long attrition battle where each side could win it.

Each side had a lot of types of aircrafts, ships, no ground battles and the side that in the early stage of the war was losing did win the battle.

Many type of missions could be played, air, ground and naval action missions. This over a long period of time.

My thoughts exactly, I'd love to see all the later war 43' and 44' planes on the EF before we move on. I'm sure we will see the p39 along with later yak and la versions, plus the Hs129 would be a fun addition.

After that I'm all for an MTO or PACIFIC theater setting.

Yeh which is why I would like to see a Murmansk because it will add aircraft like the hurricane and P39 which can be used in the MTO.

I have to say I would really love to see how 777 approach carrier take offs/landings, I think it will be amazing.

And was the mainstay of the USAAC in the South Pacific (along with the P-40), at the time of Coral Sea and Guadalcanal.  Coincidentally the same time at BoM and Just before BoS......just sayin.

I love the P-39, but I'm not too sure about the modifications. I also think the spin characteristics would get rather annoying, but I also feel like I can't fully rely on WT for flight model accuracy.

In earlier versions of il2 the P39 was a favorite, but you got plenty of flat spin recovery practice.

The potato cannon in the nose usually destroyed planes in 1 or 2 hits.

Who would pay for a Lend Lease aircraft add on?

Lets see a show of hands....

Mine goes up first.

Considering there were nearly 5000 P-39's and 3,000 Hawker Hurricanes that flew on the eastern front. These are two aircraft I would definitely like to see in a future update. I don't quite understand the reasoning around introducing the 202. I believe there were around 12 in service on the eastern front? The only thing that would make sense to me is that maybe the Dev's could be thinking of a MTO?

The P-39 might be a little harder to implement than other aircraft - I haven't seen anything with a tricycle gear in BoS yet.

That's what I figured, it would also would work with the P-40. they'll also probably do the MTO since it's what most the community wants

Regardless of which direction they go, I think the P-39 is sure thing after BoM assuming the current BoX series continues. Like the P-40E, it fought everywhere for most of the war. It makes sense in Kuban, it makes sense in the MTO, it makes sense for Kursk and it makes sense for the Pacific too. The P-39 is coming whether you like it or not. :P

And don't forget Murmansk :) And we have the correct Map coming along for that theatre, also home to a number of P-40's it makes perfect sense

Desert maps are likely much easier to create as well, which may point towards an MTO version of the sim.

North Africa isn't blanket desert like people imagine (in fact the Sahara desert is very varied in how it looks) so I would hope that plenty of research goes in to a North Africa map unlike that terrible one in the old IL2. Northern Algeria is very green, Libya less so but more green than people might expect. Having worked in Algeria and Libya for many years I was also quite surprised at what a real desert looked like, I only ever saw really big sand dunes at one location (near that BP refinery that was attacked a couple of years ago) and I worked near the Chad border (near where the French tested their nukes) that part of the desert looks more like the surface of Mars than what I imagined a desert to look like.

True.

I traveled a bit in Tunisia some years back, and it's extremely varied, even the parts that are completely barren.

I saw the stereotypical sea of sand dunes, low, brown mountain ranges, rust red valleys and canyons, flat hard baked grey sand solid as granite covered with millenias worth of black iron meteorites and the other strange otherworldly landscapes we all remember from the first Star Wars movie (I visited most of the Tatooine-sets from 'A New Hope')

And this is just the desert part.

A quick look in Google Earth is enlightening. This isn't sand dune country.

Don't give me a P-39.

The engine is mounted behind.

They'll tumble and spin and auger you in,

Don't give me a P-39.
