I really want this game, but its quite expensive. I have a Saitek X-55, and an oculus rift. ive read reviews saying that its recommended for people with pedals and all the other stuff, but do i need them? I'm very interested in this game, i have been for a few months, the only thing that's stopping me from buying it is the price, im getting some money pretty soon and i'm thinking of getting this. Any one want to try and convince me to get it?

It's a fantastic game/sim that's getting better all the time. You won't need that Rit as this isnt supported. But the x55 will do just fine. Id recommend a track IR as well. And just get BoS silver edition for if price is really that big of a player for you.

Your answer, for the most part is here;

PS: your Rift won't do much for you in this game/sim. It is neither supported at present nor up to the task anyway. Considering you paid for a rift I doubt the price of the game is an obstacle for you. But some pedals too, they are more accurate and more immersive.

PPS: I have hundreds of hours in the game. I, of course, highly recommend the game and feel I have gotten my money's worth. Pennies on the dollar at this point. If you are purely SP your mileage may vary.

I think this game is well worth the buy. I have had by far the most fun in years playing this, and all I have is a Logitech extreme 3d pro

Because it'll give you:

- The most immersive experience of ww2 air combat available today, IMO and taking only for comparison what I know and use(d) ( CloD and DCS );

- Because it's graphics, and overall performance are very very good!

- Because the dev team does an extraordinary work updating it, and listening to their customers, even if sometimes we don't recognize it ( mea culpa! );

- Because if you really take into account the number of excellent aircraft you get, comopared to what you will have to spend in, say, DCS, to get the same, it is a lot more inexpensive :-)

You really can't go wrong with IL2 BoS. I have uninstalled it because I was becoming so addicted that it was messing with my Real Life !!! Back to civil ( peaceful ) flights, now in Prepar3D and PSX, and even Condorsoaring... I was always against War, particularly Air War, and IL2 BoS made me enjoy it A LOT!!!!

P.S.: While the flight dynamics and overall systems modeling are my main motivation for using a flightsim, and DCS is known to be designed with a lot of detail put into each module, truth is, IL2 BoS is, among all flight simulators I ever used, the one that put's me closer to the feel of flight, from what my RL experience ( even if only with gliders ) provides me for comparison. There is really something unique about the way IL2 BoS captures the physics of flight !

I'd watch this and decide for yourself, it's a very fair critique.

Well worth the price and with continuous support it gets better all the time, even if you don't buy Battle of Moscow.

Don't expect to use your Rift with this sim though.

Most other games I buy don't get played for more than a 100 hours but with flight sims like BOS and CLOD I've had hundreds of hours out of them so if you are a simmer then it's not expensive for the hours you get. I paid £50 for GTA played it for 60 hours and got bored.

well i bought it a couple of days ago, ive been playing pretty often, on and off with this game and war thunder. I know war thunder is a very arcade kind of game, even in the sim battles, so i wanted to get something more serious that requires much more skill, and ive been practicing in single player to try and lead my bullets correctly and stabilize the plane, ive played for about 5 hours now, and ive improved in piloting, ive taken out quite a few bombers, but only one fighter, a

bf-109. its pretty difficult to keep my plane steady but it is such a beautiful game, its so immersive, like, crazy immersive. last night i was playing and i was returning home after killing some stukas, i let one go and started to return home, then i thought to myself, "im one person, that stuka could take out a whole tank crew, its better me than them" so i turned around and flew to the stuka even though i was heavily damaged and only had 7.62 ammunition, i shot down the stuka but he screwed up my engine so i had to emergency land in a field. i lost half a wing and my landing gear, but it was worth it for the story, and i saved a tank crew. and then i realized this is a video game and i dont have to worry about other peoples lives... immersive as ****.

This morning, as I got out of bed, wife still assleep ( shhhhhh!!!!! ), I managed to get into the cockpit of my Bf109 F4, at the Wings of Liberty Server, and stayed there for  while.

I was supposed to get early and try to finally force the install of win 10 in my rig, or prepare for latter today when a great friend from Holand is visiting my cockpit to share some experince on our PSX B744 simulator, but spent all of the spare time ( wife woke up :-(  )  in BoS, and I really can't regret I did!

I thought to myself, that if I had to keep a single flight simulator, IL2 BoS would be the only available choice :-)

Bare in mind that if you get the STANDARD version you'll have to play the campaign  to get certain armaments and un-lockables. Pretty crappy, but that argument's been flown about for a long while now.

IMO being able to bypass the unlocks alone is worth the extra cost... toss in the two fantastic aircraft and it is really a no brainer.
