Grifter Posted October 23, 2013 Posted October 23, 2013 Something for the future I was thinking would be pretty neat would be a ongoing "Tally List" of Countries that licensed IL2: Battle of Stalingrad owners live in. Initially, just a list of country and the number of pilots would be cool. I'd like to know some of the places players come from and honestly, it reminds me a bit of the scrolling list of pilots at the end of the Battle of Britain 1969 film in a nostalgic way. Is this possible 777? Perhaps a stickied post here that gets updated monthly... Just a thought...

dkoor Posted October 23, 2013 Posted October 23, 2013 Not a bad idea. I remember my times at WarClouds where one of the nice things (among many) was actually country scroll. It wasn't really about competition, that was more about community diversity. I was seeing most unusual countries there (not counting my country there, despite the small size, because there were historically some Croatian units fighting on the Eastern front).

Rjel Posted October 24, 2013 Posted October 24, 2013 I like it how US residents list their state when asked of their country . I think for most people it's neighborhood, city or town, state and then country. Or so I've read.

I live in the hills outside Reno. I am wanting to get back to Vegas to eat at the Hofbrauhaus, see the emotionally erratic Penny Pibbets in Absinthe -- one of the coolest shows i have ever seen -- and maybe stop off in Rachel for spaghetti at the Lil A'Le'Inn.

AndyJWest Posted October 25, 2013 Posted October 25, 2013 (edited) Southwest London. Though if the weather forecast for Monday is correct, I could end up being blown somewhere else entirely... A strong, high-level jet is expected to engage warm low level air to give rise to a rapidly moving low pressure system later on Sunday. This is expected to run northeastwards, probably across England and Wales, with very strong winds on its southern and western flanks. There is the potential for gusts of over 80 mph, especially on exposed coasts, both in southwesterly winds ahead of the low and west to northwesterly winds behind it. http://www.metoffice.gov.uk/public/weather/warnings/#?tab=warnings&map=Warnings&zoom=5&lon=-3.50&lat=55.50&fcTime=1382918400 Edited October 25, 2013 by AndyJWest
FlatSpinMan Posted October 25, 2013 Posted October 25, 2013 Ha! I laugh at your puny wind! When I checked the other day, typhoon 28 was approaching Japan with wind speeds over 250kmh. Category 5 Super Typhoon! With the point-scoring out of the way, I should admit that it now seems to have dropped a bit in intensity and seems to be on a dogleg course - it was incoming, but now seems to be heading away. Which is good, because no. 27 passed by this morning, just about drowning me as I walked to work.
AndyJWest Posted October 25, 2013 Posted October 25, 2013 Puny winds? I'll have you know that England is the whirlwind capital of the world! Well, according to some sources, anyway. We have lots of them, apparently. Mostly too small to notice... My parents did loose part of the roof to a whirlwind (or possibly a tornado) once - it went on to rip the roof off Gunnersbury station: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gunnersbury_station. Though there is a theory that the Luftwaffe may have loosened it a little first. Glad to hear you're safe (if wet) ...
