-TBC-AeroAce Posted July 22, 2015 Posted July 22, 2015 ^^^^^ Kinda getting bored with official servers crashing and then the MP numbers dropping to nothing!!!! I'm sorry i don't like to bash but this is becoming ridiculous, I understand that there is limited money, small industry...... but if we want to hold on to and engage current players let alone bring more to the table we need stable official servers and robust good net code. If i was in charge of 1C i would allocate a big percentage of resources to sorting a fundamentals such as this before releasing more content as guess what, a game with 20, 30, 40 planes still isnt a good game if we cant play it consistently with reasonable numbers! PS this thread is just about what I have mentioned please stay on track!
Willy__ Posted July 22, 2015 Posted July 22, 2015 Interesting though, these crashes got more frequently after the last patch.

The net code has always been a bit, lets be nice and say rough and haphazardly fixed. For example the issue with spawning crashing you out, then with next fix a NAN GUI and then with fix after no GUI. This isnt an issue for me but it is an example of how the fix just seemed a little of a quick fix. There are other examples of this and Im not going to list them all but my point is please put resources into fixing and refining core features instead of giving us some shiny new planes and a map that will not be used in the long run if the core aspects im talking about are not apparent.
Willy__ Posted July 22, 2015 Posted July 22, 2015 (edited) I never had problems with netcoding and I dont understand where you going with the last post ? I rarely have problems with CTD's myself, my main concern is that the servers crashes, and it doesnt restart automatically after that. Usually this happens on the very populated servers, and in practical terms, it just kills the online scene, we are all playing and having fun when suddenly the server crashes and nobody wants to enter on a empty server. On a side note, the problem with the NaN GUI never really bothered me, as I mainly fly looking at the instruments inside the cockpit, but I was happy that they fixed. Lets just wait and see what the next update brings us, I sincerely hope they fix the crashes and the annoying "overload" message. Edited July 22, 2015 by istruba

Last post may have been a bit emotionally OT but may main thoughts over all is they need to clean up the little things now, that's all!
KoN_ Posted July 25, 2015 Posted July 25, 2015 Yes net code needs fixing ...after the last patch we had quite a lot of players that came back .. !!!
Willy__ Posted July 25, 2015 Posted July 25, 2015 (edited) Netcoding seems fine, I rarely see people lagging or warping. What needs fixing is the servers crashing. Edited July 25, 2015 by istruba
KoN_ Posted July 29, 2015 Posted July 29, 2015 Seen plenty people lagging and warping . But that could be my poor internet provider . but seems OK else where .
[KWN]T-oddball Posted August 6, 2015 Posted August 6, 2015 A. what does "netcode" mean to everybody? most of the times it's a generic term to describe all on-line problems. B. server overload message means the game can't handle what it is being asked to and as some of you have noted it happens when there are high numbers of people, this is why the player limit was introduce to begin with, I suspect this is a fundamental issue and cannot be fixed.

I imagine original IL-2 had the same problem when released, it was limited to 16 online .....luckily some improvements were made to that fundamental issue Cheers Dakpilot
