Star Wars Battlefront

It appears now that Battlefront is completely dead on PC. Trying to join a game is futile because it takes so long even to find 12 players, people just quit. Somehow they really missed the mark appealing to the PC crowd.

The matchmaking combined with too many maps and game modes divides the players up too much. And the lack of a server browser just dooms it.

Too bad, it's a simplistic game but it's quite beautiful looking and a bit fun. But it's a MP-only game with no players.

It should have been "Battlefield" Star Wars i.e. Just take Battlefield 3 or 4 and give it a Star Wars theme. But for whatever reason its appeal just vanished on PC and it's dead. What lost potential. Big shame.

Part of the reason it failed is because of the fact that it should have said battlefield on it. Tbh, I have been a huge BF fan since the beginning, and EA seems like they are just re-skinning the same game over and over with a couple of new features, then charging us way too much money for it. In the older days, I'm talking late 90's to mid-2000's, Star Wars Battlefront would have been a free mod based off the games engine. As a matter of fact that did happen with BF2142, someone produced a free mod that made the game star wars.

The fact that they didn't include a server browser tells me that this game wasn't meant for the PC crowd, but instead was a port from a Xbox or ps4 version of the game. I thought the industry would have learned that after the fiasco involving the CoD: MW2 where they also skipped the server browser. Coincidently every CoD that came out after had a server browser.

Reality is that game was extremely shallow and lacked content. The issue is not too many maps. The issue is a very primitive and simplified gameplay, effectively making a game more comparable to call of duty or even less than that. It did not carry most of the liked in Battlefield series features, and simplification was an idea to make the game easier accessible for people usually not interested in that type of shooters. Target was a typical Star Wars fan who doesnt like to be involved in details, gun and character development. A casual player as others would call it.

And it turned out that "casuals" were not attracted as much as intended and usual battlefield fans were discouraged by the product simplicity.  At the end game was expensive, gave very few experiences and in my opinion it was a great waste. People were looking for a bigger and better Battlefront 2. Not shallow and primitive console shooter.

Sidenote : I havent bought a single game produced by EA or Ubisoft since years, to my mind those big corporations simply became incapable of delivering a good product with new, creative approach. They rely on graphics and advertisement, trying to cover how bad their products are.

We know why it was so expensive... just add a Star Wars tag to anything and it seems it gives them the right to inflate the price tag.

Presumably they will be pushing a new Star Wars reskin out with the next movie.

After purchasing it during a discount period, I played it two days, and never more since then. That says it all. The core game is beautiful with great atmosphere. But after three hours it's nothing but boring.

I just want my Star Wars 1313. A game with new and interesting approach that was never finished because LucasArts died due to focusing on little console games.

If they would just take it and finish at some point I'd buy it any day.

I'd love an immersive SP campaign set in the original films universe, with the great graphics, not all this 'run and gun' MP crap

That's the thing.  If they were to supply the game with a good singleplayer campaign and a level editor so that people could build and share their own missions, they'd be selling copies of the game for a decade to come.

Yeah, imagine how cool that would be.

Even a "get the blue key to reach the exit" style of gameplay for SP would be fine if they just got their act together enough.

Ow! Aside from the obvious, I couldn't help but laugh at the sight of another bloody Death Star too.

Star Wars without a Death Star ?

Wouldn't be a Star Wars

Yeah, got to say when I saw the newest movie I was let down. It was the exact same premise as the fist movie (which is the fourth movie?) but this time everything was bigger.

Ultra-mega-deathstar, shhh... No, it's legend.

Fark! I just watched the new R1 trailer and there really is another Death Star.

Edit: Wasn't too keen on that alarm sound either.  It was like one of the annoying noises Jim Carrey might make.

Yes that is correct.

Disney political correctness combined with another Death Star.

I was only impressed with the moment that infantry charged At-At, I dont think even Soviet/Japanese infantry would go that crazy lol  And that guy in the middle of the teaser spanking stormtroopers with a stick, I mean one would imagine that they wear this helmet and armor for a reason but it seems it helps nothing.

Why do I have a bad feelings about this ... again.

In the original film, do you remember Obi-Wan looking at the blast area saying ''only Imperial Stormtroopers are so precise?''

How come they rarely ever hit what they are aiming at, never use squad tactics apart from run and gun, wear body armour and helmets that give them zero protection... I could go on and on, lol!

I've got a theory about that.

Ahahahahahaha, hahahahahaha, hahaha aaahhh... hahahaha!, That's true, still love it tho. :)

I've never seen the s/troopers clean their blasters ?

Fun fact, the reflectiveness of the armor is how it protects. With lasers, shiny surfaces are supposed to deflect some hits, but as we have all noticed... it doesn't help.

A blaster bolt is not a laser

Well to be fair this movie is set between EP III and IV so this actually is the original Deahstar, not just another one.

First half of the trailer was quite nice actually. About the second part, well, I hope it's not going to be as much over the op as EP VII. This Ninja-like character and the Warhammer like guy somehow made me suspicious but maybe there's a reaosnable explaination why such bizarr figures fight the empire for the rebels (for example if hey're hired smugglers or bounty hunters).

The AT-AT scene might be strange at first sight but actually it may be well reasonable. Maybe they've to escape and the Empire is trying to cut of their way or they attempt to hide beneth the walkers where they can't hit them.

Given the fact it's being made by a completely different studio, my expectations are quite positive as for now.

Back on topic, I just found ot about this. Ironicly is is being developed by a russian team and intendet to be completely free. May the force be with them.

To be fair after reading over a half pf X-wing Series from currently labeled "Legends" I think they could come up with an interesting story not really relating to Death Star. They wanted to do some separate story from main Episode line ? Then they had whole universe to create something unique.

Instead its again Rebels vs Empire, Death Star and so on. I know it will sell well but personally I just find Disney intellectually incapable of creating their own stories, everything has to relate to something existing before and often its a copy of a motive that we saw in other movie.
