SOLIDKREATE Posted August 12, 2015 Posted August 12, 2015 Thank you Peterla, it's thanks to you I became more confident skinning. Excellent work my friend! The hand painted numerals give it a very immersive and historical look. Keep at it brother. There are very few of us and too much work to go around. 1
216th_Peterla Posted August 13, 2015 Posted August 13, 2015 Dear all, I want to do a little contribution to the thread posting(as Spaniard) a pre-WWII I 16 "Mosca". It was flown by the republican ace Jose Maria Bravo Fernandez-Hermosa during the Spanish Civil War(1936-1939). During the war he piloted the CM-193 and this one, CM-249, stating 23 kills on more than 160 sorties. The aircraft shows a domino's tile "double six" on the vertical fin, main emblem of the 3rd Squadron of "Moscas", Republican air Force. Download link: https://app.box.com/s/y21ffpu3yfd1m92kbpcm6z21z64rdyow As per the picture below, a restored aircraft by the Infante de Orleans Foundation has been repainted with Jose Maria's original colors. I hope you enjoy it. Regards, Pedro 12
216th_Peterla Posted August 14, 2015 Posted August 14, 2015 Edited above post: Changed color of rudder hinges to match republican flag(whole rudder section displays now the flag. 2

TP_Jacko Posted August 14, 2015 Posted August 14, 2015 (edited) Thank you Peterla, it's thanks to you I became more confident skinning. Great stuff I like the two tone scheme you used Edited August 14, 2015 by TP_Jacko
216th_Peterla Posted August 15, 2015 Posted August 15, 2015 (edited) Hi all, Today I add two more schemes from the Spanish Civil War. The aircraft with the registration number CM-215 was piloted by Sergey Ivanovich Gritsevets, commander of the 5 Escuadrilla de Caza, which claimed about 30 air victories and was honored Hero of Soviet Union. After the Spanish war he was sent to Mongolia and later to Ukraine to prepare the invasion of Poland. Gritsevets was killed on the 16 September 1939 in an accident in Bolbasovo near Vitebsk, wherein his plane was rammed by another while taxiing in preparation for take off. The other aircraft, with an unusual red tail, was piloted by the Canadian volunteer Derek Dickinson and was located in Castellon de la Plana airfield, that for a curious coincidence It's my family's place. There is a rumor about a old style chivalry air duel between Dickinson and Bruno Mussolini(son of the dictator) in which they set to meet at certain time and location and agreed the conditions of the fight, with escorts to unsure fairness of the fight. The defeated will wave a long white scarf out of the cockpit and he would be let free by the winner. Looks like after a long duel with the initial advantage for the Italian, Captain Derek Dickinson finally triumphed and Bruno threw out the scarf and dived to earth and to the national lines. I hope you enjoy this little fellas. LoupVert Posted August 15, 2015 Posted August 15, 2015 Nice colorful skin peterla, I especially like the #23. 1
Maico Posted August 17, 2015 Posted August 17, 2015 Wish we had an He-51 now... Lucky the Emil 109 is coming soon... Nice SCW skins! 1
216th_Peterla Posted August 17, 2015 Posted August 17, 2015 (edited) Dear all, As complement to the SCW Republican skins here we go with something interesting: a Nationalist Rata(rat). This aircraft belongs to the Nationalist Air Force, 26th Grupo de Caza(Fighter group), Tablada airfield, Sevilla, 1944-1945. It wears the newer Spanish National markings on the wings with still the older Nationalist black disc on the fuselage. The Nationalist marking "1 W" was dedicated to captured aircraft and this marking appeared on former Republican Moscas(fly) as the Nationalists considered these planes to be captured equipment. As per the last picture, it's not clear if the light grey is in fact bare aluminium but it's most probably the last one; anyways I can't get that bare aluminum finish with my current skills so I guess the light grey is ok. Hope you enjoy flying this little bird. Download link: https://app.box.com/s/2luh72uaktw8amun5bhwnchu1h5h121j EDIT: For whatever reason the green color on the last picture/template has been changed during the upload. The correct color is the pale green you see on the aircraft screenshots. Edited August 17, 2015 by peterla 5
Yes. Looks like the Nationalists use about 23 captured I16 and other more were manufactured on a factory in the spanish vecinity of Jerez. There were used later in training schools before being retired from service that was( if I'm not mistaken) in the 50's.
