North American T6 Texan : Gentle Mule. Bondue Airdrome , France

Hi,

 

This morning, I came to my aidrome to make my 9th hour of ULM training on "Eurostar" (had my first solo flight last time ))))) and the North american T6 based here was out for maintenance.

it seems it had an Engine start problem probably due to failure of some of the magnetos. the mecanician in charge told me it was pretty difficult to get the replacement spare piece needed to repair it...

 

This was the opportunity for me to take a few pic's of it to share with you

 

It seems this T6 was flow during vietnam war and maybe during algeria independance war. I'll have to confirm that

I was pretty surprised to hear that as this aircraft was developped before WW2 but still flew bombing missions during the post ww2 period.... probaly in area were there were few or no other air opposition I guess....
