Bando Posted July 7, 2015 Posted July 7, 2015 No trim controls. What a dream to fly. I think everyone that liked the DR1 and the Camel in ROF will love this plane. 3
Finkeren Posted July 7, 2015 Posted July 7, 2015 Here's my video, might be worth giving it a while for it to upload to 1080p or 1440p Gorgeous
Blitzen Posted July 7, 2015 Posted July 7, 2015 (edited) "Its ALIVE!!!!!!" All kidding aside...I don't fly Russian aircraft very much, but I have to say this one ( at least initially) is really a fun bird to test hop over the Russian countryside....Beautifully done by 777 ,What a treat to see the exhaust flmes so close & personal! The only glitch I think I may have seen was the wing machine gun flame not quite matching the barrel in cockpit view , but I may be wrong... ( BTW: In the old Il-2 ,the I-16 had a disteressing habit on the engine quitting during certain high G maneuvers...its been so long that i have forgotten which, and no amount of trying to get it restarted ever seemed to work ( several wags insisted you had to run the wheels over the countryside & go "Varoom,varoom...") Is this characteristic carried over to this bird? Edited July 7, 2015 by Blitzen
Yankee_One Posted July 7, 2015 Posted July 7, 2015 Any cockpit layouts? I knew most of the instruments but some i dont. @ Finkeren thanks for answering my next question on trim tabs. So no trim.
6./ZG26_Emil Posted July 7, 2015 Posted July 7, 2015 Gorgeous check back when its in nicer quality it sucks at 360p (((
Blooddawn1942 Posted July 7, 2015 Posted July 7, 2015 Thanks for sharing the Videos and Screenshots! This Will make waiting for trying out this little Beast until next Week even harder.
SYN_Mike77 Posted July 7, 2015 Posted July 7, 2015 (edited) If you have TIR you can duck down to see them or go up in your seat with cockpit in screen, and center the trackir position (in freetrack we can center the head position all time that we need), your position will go down on cockpit, but in next re-center...bb to this solution The problem (for me) of lowering your position in the seat is then you can't see the gunsight. So what I did was I moved my head back. That allows you to see both the instruments and the gunsight! ! Edited July 7, 2015 by SYN_Mike77
1CGS LukeFF Posted July 7, 2015 1CGS Posted July 7, 2015 (edited) Any cockpit layouts? I knew most of the instruments but some i don't. I'm gonna post one later on today. Edited July 7, 2015 by LukeFF
Yankee_One Posted July 7, 2015 Posted July 7, 2015 (edited) Thanks again LukeFF!! Nice to have such BIG supportt!! I appreciate your work and help. Makes life i mean BOS easier at least for me!!! S! Edited July 7, 2015 by LcSummers
6./ZG26_5tuka Posted July 7, 2015 Posted July 7, 2015 Have to say I'm a little disappointed about the engine sound. Seems like the mixed the samples of the Fw 190 and Lagg-3 together to some kind of Frankenstein engine and called it a day. The idle sound is also too dull like the La-5 and lacks serious ammount of bass (which radial engines create plenty of). Visually it looks nice as far as I can tell from the pics and videos. No clue how well it performs but we may find out. 1
Matt Posted July 7, 2015 Posted July 7, 2015 Definately feels a bit like the Camel in flight. Take-off, landing and ground handling is very easy though (as for taxiing, it's probably the easiest plane avaliable right now). Oh, about the machine guns (and cannons): the wing-mounted MGs and the cannons are fired with the Fire Weapon Group 2 command (formerly known as the Fire only cannons command). I hope that name change means, that they are planning to allow us to fire the outer weapons (MG-FF on 190, gunpods on 109) seperately from the other cannons in the future.

Well shouldn't it sound kinda similar to the La-5, since it uses an older version of basically the same engine?

I asked Han about that, and he said it would not be possible, due to the way the unlocks with the Fw 190 A-3 work.
6./ZG26_5tuka Posted July 7, 2015 Posted July 7, 2015 Well shouldn't it sound kinda similar to the La-5, since it uses an older version of basically the same engine? It does sound as dull but the pattern is different. Anyway, just listened to the real one and became even more sad. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Wre6DUAbMIg Just listen to the sound of the twin blade prop when it passes the camera....it's a pity it's not the same ingame. Also the deep engine rumbling is ery different from what we here ingame. I had though they may took the chance to make sound recordings back when they recordered the I-16 documentary. 1
=362nd_FS=Hiromachi Posted July 7, 2015 Posted July 7, 2015 In regard to the performance it makes 440 km/h on deck without emergency boost, with boost it goes above 460 km/h. So the first seems to be correct with the sources :
SharpeXB Posted July 7, 2015 Posted July 7, 2015 LukeFF - Thanks for the tip about the fuel gauge. SharpeXB and everyone else - Keypad . (KP. or KPDel) gives you an instrument view, same as with the other places. Or press Home to sit back and you can see some. Well using keys is awkward. If it's like the 190 just move your head position back and that might work. I haven't tried anything yet.
SYN_Mike77 Posted July 7, 2015 Posted July 7, 2015 Yes, move your head position back and all is well.
Finkeren Posted July 7, 2015 Posted July 7, 2015 This bird is nose heavy and jolly to fly ;-) That's strange. I think I read that the later series turned quite tail heavy? Maybe I got that backwards.
Reflected Posted July 7, 2015 Posted July 7, 2015 Tried it: fantastic job from the devs' part. Great FM! The plane is very sensitive, the roll rate is insane. I shot my first Rata down in MP. They are like flies. Very annoying, hard to catch, but harmless. If the guy knows you are attacking he can evade your attack. The secret is not to get impatient and wait until he loses you. I really can't wait for the skin template.
=362nd_FS=Hiromachi Posted July 7, 2015 Posted July 7, 2015 That's strange. I think I read that the later series turned quite tail heavy? Maybe I got that backwards. Quite possibly, new and bigger engine, cannon armament even ... rather makes it nose heavy than tail heavy.

I'll twitch the release for now and show the difference every one has different computer sound cards and or chips and sampling play backs., Edited July 7, 2015 by 71st_Mastiff
6./ZG26_5tuka Posted July 7, 2015 Posted July 7, 2015 (edited) Not this diuscussion again...pls. You can argue about sound quality but not about the sound pattern. Later is what I referr to and it's quite different as you can clearly hear when comparing the flybys. Also, for a 1998 recoding, I actually think it has better quality (as far as external sounds are concerned) than the ingame mashed up Fw 190 engine sound. But to each his own. =38=Tatarenko Posted July 7, 2015 Author Posted July 7, 2015 I find the sound is perfect on my speakers. Not quite so good in my cheapo headphones so it just depends. Still ADORING this plane! Have shot down 109s and 190s with it now in multi - the Germans seem to be flying much higher all of a sudden
Reflected Posted July 7, 2015 Posted July 7, 2015 There was a throaty rattle in the video which I cannot hear in game. This may be the BoS Rata's only shortcoming though...
=LD=Penshoon Posted July 7, 2015 Posted July 7, 2015 First flight, cockpit doors explodes on takeoff that's because you didn't close them. lol learn the check list for take off. and you just failed. Yeah I know, still scared the bejesus outta me!
EAF19_Swoop Posted July 7, 2015 Posted July 7, 2015 Cheers for the vid Emil. Just had to jump in and join the BOM crowd, a few more of us are going to give BOS a go again.
SCG_Neun Posted July 7, 2015 Posted July 7, 2015 For me....in my 109......patience on this little handful of a plane...It can bite you.
Y-29.Silky Posted July 7, 2015 Posted July 7, 2015 (edited) F-11 working as intended? Edited July 7, 2015 by [Y-29]Silky
IIN8II Posted July 7, 2015 Posted July 7, 2015 F-11 working as intended? Yessir! The new fix camera is a nice touch as well.
312_Tygr Posted July 7, 2015 Posted July 7, 2015 ( BTW: In the old Il-2 ,the I-16 had a disteressing habit on the engine quitting during certain high G maneuvers...its been so long that i have forgotten which, and no amount of trying to get it restarted ever seemed to work ( several wags insisted you had to run the wheels over the countryside & go "Varoom,varoom...") Is this characteristic carried over to this bird? It cuts out on negative Gs, but restarts when you give it positive Gs... like it should. If it does cut out completely, you won't be able to start it up inthe air, there's no internal starter in it...
PointyPuffin Posted July 7, 2015 Posted July 7, 2015 Hmm...the control surfaces don't move yet, do they?
71st_AH_Mastiff Posted July 7, 2015 Posted July 7, 2015 Hmm...the control surfaces don't move yet, do they? ? yes they do, if not working for you might have to rebind your settings?
