Bearcat Posted July 10, 2015 Posted July 10, 2015 Some have commented on the loss of tracks... This should not be surprising.. Even in IL2 very often with a patch tracks would be altered from one patch to the next or even un playable. 1
Ballermann Posted July 10, 2015 Posted July 10, 2015 Thanks for the update! Now the servers are full, which is great! (64 nice)Greeting Ballermann!
6./ZG26_Custard Posted July 10, 2015 Posted July 10, 2015 (edited) Dear Devs please will you be able to confirm if the terrain .ini file will be making a return? As much as I love this sim the current update has really taken a massive backwards step regarding view distance and has become a bit of a game breaker for me. We have gone from what we had on the first two screen caps to we have on the next two. It's like looking at two completely different sims. Edited July 10, 2015 by JG5_Custard 9

We have gone from what we had on the first two screen caps to we have on the next two. It's like looking at two completely different sims. I'm with you on that one. Word for word. I don't like moan and whine like a 5 year old, but it was so SO So nice to have that view towards the horizon. What was the point of adjusting the curvature of the earth if we don't get to see it anyway in the above photos?? I mean this as constructive criticism only. 1
6./ZG26_Custard Posted July 10, 2015 Posted July 10, 2015 I mean this as constructive criticism only With you too gnome on constructive criticism. The vast majority of the update has been fantastic with loads of work obviously put in by the Devs but the viewing distance issue/ graphics (loss of terrain.ini file) is much worse than it was prior to the update. 2
Livai Posted July 10, 2015 Posted July 10, 2015 Please, don't speculate on draw distance basing on what I said. I mean that there's possibility for graphical improvements in the future. In general! But that'd be a biggie so I'd rather wait for a global announcement - whenever we make it Zak, the terrain.ini allowed a much higher Draw Distance terrian.ini = 8192 x 8192 Landscape Draw Distance @ around x8 Texture Draw Distance 1

I absolutely dont have this blurr effect on screenshot number 3. Is it on ultra settings?
6./ZG26_Custard Posted July 10, 2015 Posted July 10, 2015 I absolutely dont have this blurr effect on screenshot number 3. Is it on ultra settings? Yep its on full settings and I'm getting the same issues on 2 different PC's. One with an GTX 770 and the other has a GTX 970 slung in it. I didn't have this issue prior to the update
LLv24_Zami Posted July 10, 2015 Posted July 10, 2015 I absolutely dont have this blurr effect on screenshot number 3. Is it on ultra settings? I haven`t seen that either. That looks really weird.
6./ZG26_Custard Posted July 10, 2015 Posted July 10, 2015 I haven`t seen that either. That looks really weird. I have only just started having this issue since the update. The Rata is at about 5K. The shot is un-zoomed. If you zoom in the view the blur clears a little. Go back to default view and its back.

It is not so clearly visible with my monitor and settings but it is clearly there. 1

It such a shame because clearly an awful lot of work has gone into the patch but the view distance has really suffered.
LLv24_Zami Posted July 10, 2015 Posted July 10, 2015 It such a shame because clearly an awful lot of work has gone into the patch but the view distance has really suffered. I think it is a bug. Maybe you should do a official bugreport with those blocky pictures. 1

6./ZG26_Custard Posted July 10, 2015 Posted July 10, 2015 Im testing it right now and at 5k no blurr. Everything is clear. Just popped a bug report on the appropriate section of the forum. I have tried it on two difference PC's and done fresh installs on both and still the same issues. What is your setup Void and do you have any screenies?
LLv24_Zami Posted July 10, 2015 Posted July 10, 2015 (edited) Im testing it right now and at 5k no blurr. Everything is clear. Our systems are pretty much the same. Tried it again, looking from outside of my plane there are blocky areas with zoom out. Not everywhere but they appear when moving view around with mouse. Edited July 10, 2015 by Zami

LLv24_Zami Posted July 10, 2015 Posted July 10, 2015 Something is not quite right No it is not. That can be very disturbing for bombers at least. 1
TG-55Panthercules Posted July 11, 2015 Posted July 11, 2015 Hmm - this is a bit disturbing - I knew that the low altitude "bubble of blur" problem was as bad or worse than before after this update, but I didn't realize that there were also new problems introduced at higher altitudes. Hopefully they can get this whole visibility/draw distance sorted at some point soon.
6./ZG26_Custard Posted July 11, 2015 Posted July 11, 2015 Looking at the screenshots Void, I don't see the blur anywhere near as badly as I am viewing it. Saying that though I tend to notice it much more when in cockpit, particularly when zooming the view in and out.(the blur is much less noticeable when slightly zoomed in all the time) I also took my screens without cloud cover. The reason was, at first I thought I was imagining seeing the effect I am now getting, but its much more visible without clouds and definitely something is amiss. One thing that I have noticed is that the lakes and waterways seem to have a very clearly defined "outline" now and I wonder if this may be contributing to the blur effect that some of us seem to be having?
Eagle-OnePirabee Posted July 11, 2015 Posted July 11, 2015 Guys, I experienced a glitch during the latest update. Summary of it is that after the 1.7gb or so of it had gone down, the rest failed to update itself. Matter of fact the message was "Failed to update". I've sent a ticket to support and still no response. I'm desperate to get cracking. Any tips, pls? And just to clarify: I've experienced this before and had to do a full reinstall, which can be a PITA as far as I'm concerned. Be glad to hear any fine ideas on this one, pls. Thanks, y'all. Oh, and if its any help, Ive added my Dxdiag file below. Pirabee DxDiag.txt

You are right from the cockpit there is a distinct blurr effect but after a while (2-5 sec) it clears up and the view is perfect. Probably when the texture is loaded into the memory. 1

I certainly hope that it will be remedied in the future as it is spoiling an otherwise fantastic update.
9./JG27golani79 Posted July 11, 2015 Posted July 11, 2015 (edited) Just tried it out too - 5k Didn´t have this before - but maybe it´s just a bug / glitch. Edited July 11, 2015 by golani79
ram0506 Posted July 11, 2015 Posted July 11, 2015 Something is not quite right Didn´t have this before - but maybe it´s just a bug / glitch. Isn`t it just the situation we had also with the old version, before changing the terrain file?

Probably when the texture is loaded into the memory. it's clear because you are closer to this blur square. the map square will get clear when the distance to your A/C is less than certain value. but the square is so big to make such change is noticeable annoyingly.
6./ZG26_Emil Posted July 11, 2015 Posted July 11, 2015 I am having the same problem as custard although I find if you fly zoomed in a bit it's less noticeable. Could this be why there is a discrepancy? Try flying with view completely zoomed out using the Ins/home keys plus pulling head back with pilot head zoom. 1
9./JG27golani79 Posted July 11, 2015 Posted July 11, 2015 Isn`t it just the situation we had also with the old version, before changing the terrain file? Yeah, I think so. Forgot to mention in my previous posting that I used the .ini customization.
6./ZG26_Custard Posted July 11, 2015 Posted July 11, 2015 Isn`t it just the situation we had also with the old version, before changing the terrain file? To a degree yes, but there is also now the issue of blur when you (Pilot head) zoom in and out

Maybe a combination of loss of the terrain ini and this weird issue with the zoom keys?
unreasonable Posted July 11, 2015 Posted July 11, 2015 Isn`t it just the situation we had also with the old version, before changing the terrain file? I agree: it is exactly what we have always had in RoF as well, it is only the Joy of Ini that has made us forget. Why was ini removed? We could have had the new options and the ini for those who like to tinker. 3
Rjel Posted July 11, 2015 Posted July 11, 2015 All in all this patch was a tremendous improvement. The bubble is a big disappointment though. It's a shame the great visuals from high altitude in the game are hampered by it. If anything, it seems a little worse now than it did before the .ini adjustments were found. I do hope with further generations of the game, the work on this continues. 1

I have to agree with you and I take nothing away from the tremendous amount of work that the Dev's and all concerned have put in with the constant improvements, Cheers Dev's Saying that though I sincerely hope that the reintroduction of ini file and or the bubble effect is looked into and improved upon.

Livai Posted July 11, 2015 Posted July 11, 2015 Did you notice that the Cockpit turn into Pitch Black and disappear if you have a oil leak and zoom out with the free Camera from your plane. Look at this Screenshots:
