1./KG4_Blackwolf Posted October 26, 2013 Posted October 26, 2013 I hope so, as mainly a bomber pilot since way back I'd love to see a little more attention paid to the heavies as well.
DD_fruitbat Posted October 29, 2013 Posted October 29, 2013 Bit late to this thread but theres plenty of android and iphone free E6B apps. I use E6B+ for android, works great and is free.
Sokol1 Posted October 31, 2013 Posted October 31, 2013 Hello Sokol1, thats great ! Unfortunately, the link on Tom`s webside with the short english manual is not there. Do you have another source for this ? I will try to build a DR3 for myself. Meteor, Get this PDF, explain how use DR3. https://sites.google.com/site/sliderulesite/dreieckrechner Sokol1
Gort Posted October 31, 2013 Posted October 31, 2013 Get a Jeppesen CR2 or CR3 for $24 USD and learn to use it. eBay or numerous pilot shops around the world. Or, here are many, many online E6B's and flight computer apps for smartphones as well. If you are really cheap, you can print out an E6B as well, or buy a cardboard version.
Skoshi_Tiger Posted October 31, 2013 Posted October 31, 2013 Come-on Spock! Get with the program! Everyone knows that the archaic unit, the statute mile, is 5.21552858965014xE-8 Parsecs! It is obvious that either your inferior human genes are clouding your logic or that you are just a dumb SoB and Starfleet is the most logical place for you. Oh, live long and prosper!
Skoshi_Tiger Posted October 31, 2013 Posted October 31, 2013 Of course my Kane's dead reckoning computer didn't have lbs/kilograms or litres on it so I had to engrave thouse units on the dial.

Sokol1 Posted November 1, 2013 Posted November 1, 2013 (edited) These ancient "Flight Computers" are more easy to use during (virtual) flight that a digital calculator, you only need turn the dial. Some practice, IAS>TAS. il-2 1946 FB charts: 3000 meters - IAS 300 KM/H ~ TAS 359 KM/H (1) - OAT* il-2 Cl+D charts: 3000 meters - IAS 300 KM/H ~ TAS 348 KM/H - OAT ** * Unknown, each of 1946 maps have different temperatures, someone did a compilation... ** - OAT: -4º on He 111 thermometer at 3000 meters - 9:00AM, middle of Channel. Results. On DR-3 ~347 KM/H On "modern online emulator" E6-B (after !@#$%: conversion using "Convert") OAT in formula. 9842.49 feets - IAS 186.41 MP/H ~ TAS 219.48 MH/H ~ 353 KM/H. On conventional (barely readable) E6-B ~ 216 MP/H ~ 347 KM/H For CL+D is OK use E6-B or DR-3, on example input 350 KM/H on bombsight (speed inputs are in tenths), but for 1946 the difference at higher altitudes may cause errors... (1) Seems that il-2'46 use his own "Rule of the thumb" on IAS calculation. "Oleg's World". Sokol1 Edited November 1, 2013 by Sokol1 1
