Hi, i have been loking for Facetracknoir profiles for my 3 IR LED Cap over the internet this week. But just manage to find profiles for FaceAPI, nothing for my ir cap.

I'm struggling to make it be smooth and fluid. And it isn't very precise on the middle of the curve, i mean, if i look to one side, and try to focus on something, the point of the curve goes up and down a lot, so the game head wiggles and it's hard to make it stop in a point of the middle of the curve.

Also can't look upside much, because the pitch down and pitch up curves are swapped, it's a known pointracker bug, have you guys solved this?

So yeah, if someone has a good 3 IR LED Cap profile for this game in FacetracknoIR, please share it, because i am going mad...

I think you may find that the open-source support for cap-style tracking is less robust than the clip style setups. At least, that's the impression I got. Either way, with something like a ps3 eye, you should be able to get very useable tracking with the right settings ('speed' and curves in particular).

Can't you just reverse the pitch axis? To me, it sounds like you have too much curve with less than ideal speed. When I was using my custom trackclip, I found very little to no curve to be best. Getting the speed just right took a little bit of tweaking though. I was aiming for relative stability in the center zone for aiming/zooming and just enough tracking range to get a good look behind on either side. Over time, I was able to remove more and more curve without having aiming issues. Probably I just became more used to the tracking.

Probably already done this, but make sure to change the measurements if necessary to match to your cap tracking clip:

On a related note, I have a reflector-style hatclip sitting around if anyone wants it (IR cast from an LED array in front, should be pretty easy to set one up). They have a fairly large reflector surface area for a large range of tracking, but also slightly less accuracy due to have to interpolate the center point of the reflectors.

Another thought: are you sure you aren't getting tracking jitter on the sides due to the gain on the camera? Sometimes if the point becomes too large or changes shape, the Pointtracker API interpolation of IR center point will jitter.

Yeah i got a CoD profile for faceAPI, the protocol that tracks just your face, and i saw that the curves were almost linear. I tried that and there's a lot of difference. Much more smooth and precise.

About my pitch problem, it's a known bug of Factracknoir, two years ago devs aknowledged it, and i simply can't get a reply from the devs for a fix/workaround even now, two years later.

I mean, it isn't that when my real head pitches up, the game head pitches down. You are right that could be solved inverting the pitch. It's just that when i pitch up, the software picks the pitch down curve, and that graph has a maximum of 90º, that ingame is translated to like 40º, so i can't look straigh up.

Other than that, i managed to have a smooth tracker.

Ah almost forget it. I have evrything else set it up correctly. Including the cap measurements and all that. It was just the curves and filter being bad configured.

Thanks for your reply man
